How to clear recent files in excel 365

How to clear recent files in Microsoft excel
Open an Excel spread sheet
Go to File - Options - Advanced
scroll down to the 'Display' section
look for "Show this number of recent worksbooks" and change the number to zero (0).
click OK.

That just hides the files, not clear them.

When you turn the option back on it just brings back what was cleared all over again.
