Putin honours 'Despicable 10' as investigators search Bucha ruins - BBC News

Ukrainian and Belgian war crimes investigators are searching the ruins of Bucha, near the capital of Ukraine.

Meanwhile, prosecutors in Ukraine continue their hunt for a Russian brigade dubbed 'The Despicable 10'.

The group of Russian soldiers is accused of carrying war crimes against the civilians of the town when Russia occupied it during their advancement on Kyiv.

It is believed Vladimir Putin has since honoured the same men believed to have carried out the attacks in Bucha for their duties.

Moscow has denied any crimes were committed in Bucha.

Vasily Knyazev, Semyon Maltsev, Andrei Biyazev, Sergei Peskarev, Grigory Naryshkin, Dmitry Sergienko, Vyacheslav Lavrentyev, Albert Radnaev, Mikhail Kashin and Nikita Akimov.

Ukraine's Prosecutor General, Ms Iryna Venediktova has accused 10 Russian soldiers of atrocities in the town of Bucha, where evidence of mass killings was uncovered.

Soldiers from the Russian 64th Separate Motorized Rifle Ground Forces Brigade who occupied the Kyiv suburb were "involved in the torture of peaceful people".

Russian President Vladimir Putin recently honoured the brigade's work by issuing medals and commendations.

Ms Venediktova stated the Russian president bears responsibility for the soldiers' actions as their commander-in-chief.
