Highly underrated video. Been shopping around for a good sculpting clay for silicone casting, and I'd read so many recommendations for Monster Clay, but I'd never seen such a useful, to the point demonstration. Thanks!

Don't worry you aren't missing out not being able to get the soft Monster clay, it just melts in your hand before you can do anything with it, the medium is where its at! I like the hard for pours, if you want to fill a mold with melted Monster clay the hard is great for that!

Hair dryer, high-watt heat lamp or heat gun are the best options for softening...microwave will liquefy it and makes a mess...don't even think of using the oven - the wax will surely cause fire if overheated. With hot air (heat gun and hair dryer), make sure to evenly heat the mass to avoid over softening. The high watt heat lamp so far had work wonders over the years for me. So just put a lamp over the mass about half an hour before you work, depends on your current room temperature, adjust how close the bulb will be to the mass.

Do not use the same microwave that you prepare food in . Residue and offgassing can contaminate food . As stated in the instructions.

Stopped in for the part microwave part and stayed for the rest. Funny only thing Amazon is offering in the US is the soft version, which isn't that soft. Mainly, I am using the clay for making 2 part molds, so I will need to remelt it often. I am tempted at trying to sculp now.

If you let it get hard. Spray it with a clear finish. Then spray a primer on it and then you cant paint it and it will be hard enough to display ( unless you live on Gilligans Island )

Tell me, please, if I will sculpt from “hard”, how strong is the finished figure? I need to transport it for scanning. Is it really possible to do this? Maybe I need to cool it down a lot or put something cold next to it and take it in a refrigerator bag by taxi to the scanner? I am afraid that the details will be destroyed 👀

How is Monster Clay different from Degas? Both are made of plasticine by Prochima.
How to make a plaster negative of a figurine and then a cast to preserve your sculpture?
Any links? Monster Clay materials are too expensive to be made ready-made.

I had a question in regards to your drogon. I noticed you were very hands on with it. Did you bake that already? I was just wondering be cause of all the very extensive detailing, wouldn't you have put your finger prints all over it? Also, this clay, isn't it supposed to be baked when completed a project?

So I know this was posted forever ago, but I wonder if you can use Sculpey Ultra Light over the tin foil to make it so the Monster Clay won't get stuck in it.

Would you recommend monster clay for just a large-ish sculpture? - I'm planning to do a sculpture for my HSC body of work yet can't find a decent yet not so expensive medium to work with
