On the fence about what type of ride on mower best suits your needs? In this video I help answer that question.
I cover all the advantages and disadvantages of the ZTR (zero turn radius or zero turn ride on) and the lawn tractor. The categories that I cover in this video include: speed, maintenance, visibility, maneuverability, slope, learning curve, towing, and of course COST.
The ride on mowers featured in this video are all EGO battery powered models. The three EGO models are the EGO Z6 42" ZTR, the EGO Z6 42" ZTR with E-steer, and the brand new 2024 EGO T6 42" lawn tractor.
So tune in to find out what type best suits your lawn needs!

I got a EGO E-Steer last year and love it. Grass can’t grow fast enough 😂.

my yard is too small for either but I love my self propelled EGO 21 inch lawnmower...my string trimmer, my snowthrower, my chainsaw, my hedge trimmer, my leaf blower, my 28" snowblower, all EGO products!!!!

Just scored an insane deal on an Ego Z6 42-inch zero-turn mower at Lowe’s! They were clearing them out, and I found one still new in the crate, wrapped in heavy plastic—apparently sitting there for three years. It came with four 10Ah batteries, and the charger, but they were so eager to get rid of them that they also threw in two brand-new 7.5Ah batteries to fill the tray. Then, just for fun, I shamelessly asked if I could use my 10% discount… and they actually said yes! Ended up paying just $1000 and got it delivered yesterday. It charged up and runs with no problems. Absolute steal!

I've been looking forward to this video! I'll be going with the T6 eventually due to having a hilly yard and also for the 600lb towing capacity to tow a small trailer and use ground engaging tools like a core aerator, dethatcher, and lawn roller. The only missing feature that would've been nice is a locking diff, but I think I'll manage without one.

I'm looking forward to the resurgence of the 'Garden Tractor', which tended to be a lawn-tractor sized unit with belt, PTO, or hydraulic accessories. You c an get a JD X7XX for $12K but it used to be that everyone had one. Craftsman, Simplicity, Case, Montgomery Ward, Ford.... you could put a tiller, sweeper, snowblower attachment on any of them and they all had belly mowers. And affordable. With electric ride-ons the connections would be super simple, just run an umbilical.

This is free advice EGO (and/or your competition). I just want the product.

Hey guys…I purchased the EGO push mower a few years ago…love it. Then I purchased the EGO snow blower (the bigger one)…love it. I just recently purchased the multi tool trimmer and cultivator (love the trimmer, haven’t used the cultivator yet). Finally, (yes…I’m an EGO groupie) I also just purchased the EGO Esteer Z6…love I’ve only used it twice but wow, what a machine. I used it on my lawn, about an acre. And I used it on the field behind our home, about an acre. Honestly, I didn’t want to get off the machine when I was done. Yes, I was debating between the lawn mower (which looks super cool) and the Esteer Z6. Pros and cons were detailed very well in this video. What sold me…the zero turn capability of the Esteer Z6. It literally turns on a dime…incredible. I also purchased the bagger as well… works great. I, of course, disassembled the bagging system (just the chute) to mow the field (disassembly took about 2 minutes). However, EGO suggested that I switch out the blades for ‘bagging blades’ before I attached the bagging system. Listen: I used to own a Kubota BX2360 ($14, 000). Sharpening the blades meant taking off the mower deck…it took me at least 45 minutes. The EGO Esteer Z6…removing the deck, replacing the blades took me all of 15 minutes…very simple to do!

So, my recommendation is the EGO Esteer Z6…incredible machine! And I bought it from Lowe’s, delivered AND assembled…no hassling with the big crate that I’ve seen in videos. Good luck to all!

I got the Z6 E-steer but that was before the tractor was announced. I have a few spots where my Z6 slides so I would have strongly considered the tractor had it been available. But I do love how I can maneuver far more than a tractor could have.

Man your camera work just always seems to get better with each video.

I had my mindset on a Z6, but then I went to Lowe’s today and looked at the T6 and I like that a lot better however, they do not have the bagger option available yet. However, watching your video, maybe I should go for the zero turn instead.

Have been using a Craftsman tractor for the last 22 years, but it is now burning a ton of oil. Tried the Z6 E-Steer. Loved the quietness and the cut. Didn't like the inability to handle the many sudden deviations in elevation of my property, especially along the roads, something the Craftsman tractor had very little issues with. Living out in the country, our property is anything but a manicured subdivision lawn. Thankful that EGO has a 30 day return policy. Will be getting the T6 tractor as soon as the store has them back in stock. Thinking that will work a lot better on the dips and bumps, like a traditional tractor.

I drive a John Deere d105 auto and I love lawn tractors, but I also love the e steer. Because of the looks and the cost. I choose the T6. I have a YouTube channel called X-Struction and I can't wait until the t6s start getting sold at hardware stores so I can review them. I already have reviewed all e-go products but the z6 e-steer, t6, and push mowers.

I went to Lowe’s and sat on both. For me, I liked how the T6 felt. You sit up higher and I felt more in control. I also thought the T6 was easier to get on and off. With the Z6 e-steer I felt more clumsy getting on it maybe it had to do with the position of the deck relative to the seat. Either way I think it’s a preference thing. I’m looking forward to getting my T6 which is coming in May!

I'm pondering whether time to make the move to electric riding mower. Been using a push EGO mower for 6 years & love it, but I'm now 6 years older & yard is still big. I want it also to help me clean stalls, take out feed buckets, shavings to barn & haul dirt around the yard.

What happens to the motor when it hits a root or rock? My Husqvarna does well if I hit something, thinking the belts give/slip to handle the shock, but since the Ego has direct drive motors, how well do they hold up in this area? I have a rough lawn to mow, so that is very important to me.

Bought the z6 but only because they didn't offer a tractor yet. I love the z6, but waiting to see if they come out with attachments. Would love a t6 with a snow plow or blower, a light duty scoop for moving around bark, sand and gravel, plus pull behind attachments like a power grader for folks with gravel driveways.

I don't know why people say zero turns have a higher learning curve. For me, a zero turn was the most intutive thing I ever drove. Trying to use an old lawn tractor as a kid was a nightmare, I had to constantly brake and back up, I no foot pedal for throttle, it has just one speed with a throttle control knob, it turned like crap. When my parents got a zero turn I could drive it like a pro in a matter of minutes. You just hace two handle bars and it's like riding a bike. So simple and smooth. I don't know why anyone wastes their time buying a slight cheaper lawn tractor unless they have zero obstacles and a flat yard.

So my question/concern is at 4:15 where do you go or who can you go to "For" maintenance?
