Super good information! Just 'ease up' on the Floor Mat Fetish... Traps MOISTURE and accelerates corrosion.

The engine is exposed well. That is a good quality.

Just purchased a ZT1 50". I like the exposed motor for ease of maintenance.. Although i've had Kawasaki motors before and they are excellent and not likely to need repairs.

I bought the Husqvarna Z254F special edition 3 weeks ago, has the 23 HP Kawasaki, very happy with the mower. I live on 5.5 acre horse property with no horses. Pastures had not been cut all summer, were 2 feet tall grass and weeds. Had to make two passes but it did it. Very powerful mow

Recently purchased a 54" Bad Boy MZ Magnum with 40 hours on it for $3100. It was a stroke of luck, because I was just a day or two away from buying a new one for $4699. We know the former owners, which gives great peace of mind about how the machine has been treated. I'd slightly prefer the Kawasaki engine, but I'm comfortable with the Kohler 7000. Our last mower was a Husqvarna with the much-maligned Kohler Courage engine, and we got 12-13 years of good service from it. I've cut our 4 acre lawn 4 times with the BB, and I really like this mower. It's a bit faster than the Husqvarna and seems to get much better gas mileage. I really like the deck height adjustment. My only complaint so far is I wish it had either better suspension or a better seat. It's a bit of a rough ride in the less-smooth parts of our yard. Overall I'm pleased, and I really hope it serves us as well as our old Husqvarna.

I've had my Timecutter (75750) for 3 years and I absolutely love it.

For me the cub cadet gets the nod with kawasaki engine. I like the strong tube frame I can mount a sturdy overhead canopy and even an oil cooler for the sturdy kawasaki engine. The fab deck is not as thick as bad boy but I just cannot ignore that 2x2 tube frame I want!!

I went with the Toro timecutter 42 fabricated deck and with the kohler engine retail for 3, 500 paid 3750, so far loving it with my small landscaping business 🙏

I just purchased the Bad Boy MZ Magnum 54 kohler engine for $3, 695 at RK and love it. Have a 4 year old John Deere 48 tractor moving 2.5 acres, still use it for the ditch line.

My son was able to buy a bad boy, MZ Mustang, 54 inch deck with 54 hours on it for three grand in April.
So far, he is pretty happy with it for his first zero turn.

The cub zt1 for the money is by far the best. With the Kawasaki motor to the fabricated deck.

I like the exposed engine on the Cub Cadet, makes it much easier to work on if needed.

I bought a redmax rtz54 with a 26 horse kawasaki and have had good luck so far, i fabricated a hitch to roll a 1 acre lawn 3or 4 times early spring, the mower does 9mph so if its not rolled its pretty rough ride, with it rolled i cut my lawn in about 40 mins 55 if i cross cut which i do quite a bit because i have alot of shade.

At 9:04 the video states you have 1 Briggs and Stratton engine option. However, the video clearly shows a Kohler engine.

I would step up to the $5000 to $6000 range as a starting point. Much better serviceable transaxles, better build quality, and no single cylinder engines. The Bad Boy would have been the #1 pick but the single cylinder Briggs puts it at the bottom with the Toro. If you’re on a budget and have to buy one of these, the Husqvarna is probably the best choice.

Great list. The theme of value continues on as well with commercial mowers. Choosing between a Bad Boy and Toro. The Toro 2000 series with something like 27hp carburated engine is the same price as a Rebel with the 31hp Kawasaki EFI. The Rebel also has better transaxles. The only thing the toro has going for it is the supposedly better myride system, but that makes it very difficult to get to things for maintenance and repair.
