Great review Len, as usual. I'm really starting to come around to debian lately. After I installed MX-15 on a relatives laptop and it's been flawless and maintenance-free for about 3 months, I'm like debian this and debian that. Thanks for advocating for debian. You're one of the few YT'ers out there pushing pure debian for desktop users. Take care.

Just to make everyone aware, the testing iso is suggested for testing the installer only.
If you want to use Debian Stretch (Testing), it is suggested to use the Debian Jessie (Stable) iso's, then configure your sources.list file then apt-get dist-upgrade to Stretch.

This note is for Dirk Zuchner. I can't speak to the hardware installed in your system(s) but I had absolutely no issues with audio and video codecs, non-free, etc. I simply downloaded the live cd's of 8.6 with several different de's (ie: mate, lxde, etc.) and they already have the non-free software installed. All I did was boot the live image, start the install from the desktop, rebooted, and all the codecs, etc. were installed and configured, working, and with no issues. You know how Debian is they have a boat load of different cd configurations and in the past I had to do some serious work to get things configured. I literally had no work whatsoever. I did, however, perform the normal updates, install of personal software choices, theme and icon selections, etc. Anyway, I only posted this just in case you have yet to try the live cd boot and install. Here are the links to the iso's I used in case you want to give it one more try before bailing. Debian is really worth it. Oh yeah, one more thing. Make certain you have the sound configuration setup correctly if you are running Debian in Virtualbox or VMWare. I hope this helps out.

Hi Don't Call Me Lenny, did you knew that now the Numix & Arc Themes, also the Moka & Numix Icons are available on debian official repos for Stretch?

Does Debian 9 have an update notifier? This was missing in Jessie for LXDE XFCE and Mate.

I am having trouble getting Debian Testing installed completely. The issue I am having is with my AMD/Radeon Display drivers. I see you are using Nvidia Drivers. Can you provide any assistance with the Radeon Drivers? I get a message that Debian is running in Software rendering and i have spent countless hours trying to correct it, I am wanting and trying to use the Cinnamon DE. Thanks in Advance and I Appreciate your Videos.

I just did my 2nd attempt with Debian 8.5 from the firmware Disks. Again I could not get the sound working and the Internet is full with people having sound issues. For me Debian just died after Debian 8. Looking for a new distro, not based on Debian.

In their forum, they even defend that Debian became like a Tea House without the knowledge how to boil water. Sound is an essential nowadays and I don't know of any linux which has problems with it except Debian, They became totally useless and should go to Ubuntu and learn how to create a working OS. Can't use Ubuntu anymore after they went to bed with Micro$oft :-(
