Had the materials and the tools for almost a year and decided today was the day to work on the new install out in my party barn. I'm really digging the Klein crimper. I have one of their Ethernet testers on the way. I still remember seeing pass- through RJ45 connectors for the first time. The tech was using a standard crimper and cutting the protruding wires with side cutters. He was having a rough time inserting the connector into a switch to the detent because the side cutters weren't cutting the wires flush with the end of the connector. I love how the Klein both crimps and cuts in one motion.

2:50 I’ve had this for about 6-8 months and I always wanted to lock it in place to store it properly in my bag and thanks to your video I didn’t know that if I crimp it slowly it locks in place…finally!

man i love that passthrough plug. all i have are the non pass styles, and yeah it's really tough to get solid sheath crimps when you are first starting out and figuring out the lengths and whatnot. this is SO much better

The “string” inside the cable is actually for “ripping” the sheath open along its length to prepare the cable pairs for “making off”. ✌🏻👍🏻🇬🇧

If I'm running shielded CAT6, do the connectors absolutely have to be shielded for it to make sense? Also, what shielded CAT6 outdoor cable do you recommend? I was thinking TrueCABLE. Thanks

What if one end of your ethernet cable is A and the other end is accidently miss wired? Will it show pin 3 is in 4 or 8 is on 1?
