This looks similar to my front porch, I want to restore my original wood columns, the tops are good but the bottoms which are made up of four separate pieces need to be replaced, there's no way I can reproduce the detail that's there so I'll probably just use square pieces of two by twelve to set them on, my house was built around the 1910 or twenty time period, I have the original blue prints also, I'm trying to do everything on a very low budget, the columns are pretty big so I hole they don't come apart when I try to remove them, I plan on using large zip ties wrapped around them to hold them together.

Those railings are not appropriate for a house of that era. They look like they came off someone's back yard deck.

Feel this would have looked way better kept original. The railing does not match the home and it looks sloppy. If you just wanted a front porch and nothing more than great. However. If your intention was to match the porch to the era of home, its an epic fail.
