How to Install Underground Buried Downspout Kit NEW for 2024

For 2024 all our downspout kits include our Vented Cleanout Leaf filter - no tools required and slips right on any downspout. You do have to select a two by three or three by four downspout so you have to know what size your downspouts are.

All of our downspout kits include our pop-up emitter that you can get your hand down in. Sometimes you get a lot of tree seeds that collect in the elbow of a pop-up emitter and you need to clean those out. It also has a Turf restrictor plate so grass can't grow over it.

Any of our kits that say they include an inline catch Basin now comes with our triple patent pending five year sediment trap. What does that mean? You only have to clean it out every five years for shingle gravel. It has a larger sump than your 12x12 catch basins yet it's narrow so it goes right in the trench. It was designed by contractors so it's easy to install. Everything snaps together quickly.

I thank you for your videos. I got your inline catch basin and geotextile fabric coming in. I want it done right to avoid headaches later.

Would you show the connection at the house from the end of the downspout to the straight line to the popup. Thanks

If you don't have much of a yard slope can you still use the knife-cut pipe? Im picturing that as the pipe fills up with water, the water will still come out through the curbside end of the pop-up emitter even if the pipe is horizontal?

Thank you for all your valuable videos! We're in the process of developing our underground drainage system in an area with lots of trees. I live in a climate similar to yours- freeze/thaw, so I like the idea of using the knife cut at the end of the run prior to the pop up emitter. Is it absolutely contraindicated to use the knife cut for the last few feet if there are trees around due to potential root ingrowth? Would the sock or wrapping it in the black fabric help prevent this? Also, can you tell me how deep the blue solid Armour pipe needs to be if we plan on pouring a 6 inch concrete patio over it?

Would really appreciate a simple page of instructions showing which connection attaches at which point in the system. Very much struggling to understand currently.

Very cool product and design. But won’t the holes in the sump get plugged by shingle gravel sooner than 5 years? Maybe not. Seems like they would plug with little gravel. I supposed you can just clean it out more often.

I've been preparing to do a french drain in my back yard. I want to do it myself (because of the expense) so I'm just slowly, slowly digging out my trench and will eventually buy the parts a piece at a time. I watch a lot of your videos, and unfortunately I get confused since there seem to be multiple ways to do it. First I should mention I'm in the south (DFW area in Texas), so freeze is not a concern. The ground is pure clay. I actually live in a 100 year floodplain which is part of the reason I want to get my drainage as good as I can get it! What I don't understand about this video is that they didn't use 1"-2" river rocks, and the filled the trench with dirt?! and no geotextile fabric? I'm curious as to how that works, I thought doing it that way guarantees dirt will get in the line? Is it because they're using fabric-covered knife cut that they can do it this way?

Great design. I have 2 downspouts and a possible portion of the top a small garden/retaining wall I'd like to implement your kit on. Is it possible to email you a rough/crude sketch or picture so that I can order the appropriate kits and pieces? I am located in Georgia with clay soil so also factoring in any special install considerations. Thank you!!

So I ordered my downspout kits. I also ordered your 2" risers. The first riser was white PVC . Then I ordered 16 more and they came in green, and they very loosely slide over the PVC popup emitter and inline catch basin White PVC. What keeps them from popping up and apart? Can you do a video showing how your NEW products work? Do you glue the green adaptors to the white PVC? Show us how they install and do not pop up with water pressure. Very skeptical. Getting ready to put them to the test.

Just bought this kit.

Can someone explain to me (like a 3rd grader) why in other videos; there are three separate blue pipes? Specifically what is the advantage of the French drain system ontop of this?

In this kit there is a catch basin. Is that used in the area where the most surface water is expected to be? I see it’s not grated (as he explained to keep mosquitoes out) but will that collect surface water? Or is that merely to help the downspout stream soak into the ground?

Do we need to buy a seperate catch basin that IS grated and run a new line through it for capturing surface water seperately? I’ve seen the DIY simple video about getting rid of surface water. But just want to clarify if this specific basin can serve the same purpose?

Just trying to conceptualize it all before it ships. Sorry if I seem dumb (don’t do this for a living lol).

My end goal is to direct my downspout AND collect surface water in one specific spot close by to the downspout.

If I connect 2 downspouts, should I install a catch basin to each, before they wye together?

Knife cut will allow water both in and out, not just one direction like a valve. Safe to say this is correct?

I just received your in line basin with vented turf restricted plate. Does the middle flip up for clean out? I can’t tell and don’t want to break a tab incorrectly.

Can a truck (for tree maintenance) drive over installed drain line?
I live in Connecticut and Have a lot of trees. If I use solid drain line, how can I mitigate risk of freezing?

Hi FDM! Can i use the pop up emitter for the discharge from my basement sump pump? Its currently going through big-o into the yard and not making my neighbour too happy. If not, what product would you recommend? Im in SW ontario clay btw.

In this video, it appears there are TWO pop-ups--one closer to the house, and one further away at the end. Can you explain why?
