As someone who never does anything construction, I thought this was a joke when you tried putting a nail into a brick

You forgot the part where you need to smash your fingers with the hammer and scream explicatives.

FYI to the Yanks; these are called wall anchors in the States. Saving you the confusion and hilarity that would ensue if you asked for “nail plugs” in a hardware store here.

As a Mason a appreciate you teaching people this. You have any idea how many bricks I've had to tuckpoint because of cracking and severe chipping? Drill and plug any time you can. At least drill everytime.

I used to just use the cable clips with the little 1/4" screw. When I had to screw into brick I'd drill a hole, cut a 3/4" piece of zip tie, shove it in the hole and screw in. Easy, cheap, works.

Proper concrete nails also do the job. Haven't managed to bend those yet.

I used to work for BT. They have been using the little grey pin plugs for years. A good job.

“I got this from a well known retailer that offers next day delivery..”

We could really use this for our inside walls, to hang pictures, as the brick is very close to the wallpaper layer.

Natural (white) anchors will deteriorate when exposed to UV light. So don't use them outdoors.

Use the mortar bed, this is common knowledge to a tradesman

I carry a bag of 200 30mm hardwood dowels bought from toolstation £2.64 my dad taught me this he was a sparky from the 1950s they made there own dowels by whittling out off cuts of wood might try them if there cheaper I think most sparkies would use wood plug if needed but good if you want something in plastic

You’re a genius... a pilot hole and nail plug, absolute rocket science.

I've always known them as wall anchors or even mollys. It's always interesting hearing new names for things you've known and used your whole life

Wow the amount of people who find fault with a good tip. Never heard of nail plugs cheers

So basically drill a pilot hole and put a wall anchor. You should do this when you can as it helps minimize the damage you do to the brick.

I love how he said the nails going bend but yet the nail was going in perfectly fine and he pulled it out just to make a mess for the video
