Fujifilm X-T5 Review (After 2 Years)

Today, we’re revisiting the Fujifilm X-T5—two years after its release. But the two big questions are: Is it still relevant in today’s camera landscape? And, if you’re rocking an older X-T series like the X-T3 or X-T4, is it worth the upgrade?

I have the Xt2 and the Xt4, and am waiting for the Xt6 before I exchange the XT4. The Xt2 remains my backup.

Love my X-T5. Adding a SmallRig grip really helped the feel for me.

Hi, i’m considering to buy the XT5, but a lot of reviewers complaining about the focus en tracking system. Do you have the same experience? Thank you for an answer.

Hello Bal! I just upgraded from X-S20 to X-T5, I'm very happy with the choice even if I'm still learning how to use the X-T5 at its best. I also now got a Fuji 33mm f1.4 in addition to a Samyang 75mm f1.8. I always follow you with attention and great interest.

Thanks for a terrific review of my favorite camera. I like your manner and your information is both comprehensive and not technical; kudos! One question-have you noticed a significant difference in autofocus since the December firmware update?

Amazing camera for street and a great camera for many other genres. I have it since day 1 and I absolutely love it

I hesitated to upgrade, but finally took the jump from X-T2. Love my X-T5 ❤. Found it used (without a scratch) at a super price.

I sold the XH2s and the XT5 for the XT3. The build quality is unmatched, and for what I do for work, the AF is just fine.

Agree about the grip, the curvature of the X-T4 grip made it much more comfortable.

I upgraded from the XT3 to XT5 for the reasons you mentioned. Love both although I feel the XT5 build quality inferior to that of XT-3. Great video. Thanks.

I have an XT 5 and I love it. The only place I disagree with you is AF. It may be improved from that of the XT 4 but it is by no means great. I choose to manual focus most of the time because of the AF inconsistencies and I actually enjoy doing so.

Bought my first cameras back in the early 70's (Canons) and they have worn next to nothing compared to the X-series I bought in 2016 even after dragging my Canons around through producing over 100 TV show productions. It is especially the grippy outside of the lens barrels on my FujiFilm camera shows considerable wear compared to my Canon lens or other 3rd party lens I bought and have used since the 70's . Twice bottom plate screws simply worked loose on the body and needed replaced which I think shows a lack of build tolerance to have happed twice.

Still I do enjoy the design my x-series camera and the back to useful basic design and dials I will likely soon purchase a T5 body along with a T6 if it looks like one will be coming out this year. But before that I will be selling an F1 body (tough but too heavy) and getting my A-1 battery door replaced (first repair since purchased in 79).

Honestly, I love to shoot with my Fujifilm X70, most fun for me shooting. I also have a Canon R6 that i use particularly for event & concert work (and does an excellent job!) but i'm contemplating just going all Fuji by trading in my R6 for an X-T5(with the X-H2 as the secondary option). I don't do video and i'm not entirely interested in it but i do understand it's place in the current market. Very much undecided on whether I should take the plunge and go all in on the Fujifilm eco system, but truly haven't seen enough in its regard to shooting in low light, especially concerts. So broad question is, is it worth the switch to using Fujifilm for this type of photography?

Love the Leica flash-frame, but it didn’t influence me to switch from Fujifilm 😊
