The long awaited Fujifilm X-T5 is here! Does this camera manage to satisfy many photographer's desire for more tactile controls alongside the latest camera technology? Chris Niccolls and Jordan Drake have been shooting with a pre-production sample, and (as usual) they have some opinions.

Not all photographers want a lot of video features. It’s terrific that Fujifilm recognizes this and provides different bodies for different types of shooters.
Well done!

As an X-T2 owner there wasn't much reason to buy an X-T3 or X-T4 as the evolutions on these cameras were negligible for me, but the higher resolution with improved autofocus is a clear step upwards.

I'm just back from my local camera dealer, where I traded in my X-T4 for an X-H2. I had been thinking I should wait and try the X-T5 first, but this review really helped me make up my mind NOT to do that. Key learnings: (1) I don't shoot a lot of videos, but when I do, they tend to be long. Both the X-T5 and X-H2 have theoretically unlimited record times, but the review showed me that the X-H2 will record longer because the X-T5 is more likely to have heat issues. (2) When I got the X-T4 I thought, "Wow, I really like having separate dials, " but I've realized that in practice, I never use them; I keep them locked and use the front and rear control dials for adjustments. So, the X-H2 layout is closer to the way I actually use the camera. (3) I liked the X-T4's fully articulating screen a lot because it let me fold it away from protection when carrying the camera. The X-T5 doesn't have that and the X-H2 does. So, thanks to DPRTV for helping me decide this is NOT the right camera for me!

A camera geared towards photographers...what a concept. I'm thrilled. I love my XT3, the dials, the look, the feel...it's all good. I don't ever shoot video with my camera and I could care less about the screen that everyone has a cow about. Looking forward to upgrading for the IBIS and higher resolution.

I've been saying for years that I want an X-T3 with IBIS... My dreams have come true!

As an xt2 owner who has skipped the last two upgrades, this is perfect. Smaller than the xt4, ibis, flip screen, higher res.

Chef kiss.

Perfect upgrade.

The X-T3 was regarded as a very good camera for video. Even when a lot in that department has improved, suddenly it's not any more. How time flies.

I own a xt20 and XT3 and I love the command dials on the xt models. I’m more of a photographer so with the focus tracking upgrade and 40 pixels this will suit all my needs and it’s much cheaper then the xh. Stoke xt5 will have all the subject detection modes. Way to go Fujifilm 👏👏👏👏

I love Fuji making cameras for photographers and videographers separately. I wish all manufacturers would do this.

This is the one I'm most excited for! Thanks Chris and Jordan for always being both informative and entertaining!

Everyone was so pleased when the X-T4 launched as a top end, Flagship, all round Hybrid camera with great stills and video capabilities. Now we’re reverting to a camera that is targeted at stills photographers again! Quite frankly, the X-T4 is still more than good enough for the vast majority of Fuji’s potential customers, myself included.

Yay - the fabulous analog dials and three way angled screen returns!

Tilt-screen instead of fully articulated? Hell yeah! The XT finally returns as a photographer’s camera instead of a hybrid!

X-T1 user. This is the upgrade I was hoping for.

And just like that, Fujifilm has rectified their XH1/XT3 timing error. Seems like a clear differentiation between the XH2 and the XT5. Well done Fuji!

0:11 That old black and white silent film music is priceless! Great job, again.

Yesterday I used my X-T5 and 16-55mm in fairly bad hospital lighting (for a work thing), in a bustling crowd, and found the autofocus and face recognition were rock solid. A great first work-related outing with it.

I think I made my decision when I bought a xh2 and xh2s and sold my other Fuji bodies. I’ll take a better viewfinder, 8k, and cf express any day. Glad they released the xt5 to give everyone that option but I would just jump to the x-pro4 for that vintage feeling.
