Hello! This is a pinned comment to tell you the things that are in the dooblydoo for the people who go straight to comments and don't look at the dooblydoo.

This channel has had a non-trivial impact on my growth as a person. Over the years, my attention has been brought to things that I may not otherwise notice, connections have been made for me about the world that I may not have otherwise made, and, just like the first season did over 11 years ago, I've been able to see what the future looks like. When I was a kid, watching vlogbrothers made me embrace adulthood instead of being fearful of it (because hank & john sure seem like they're doing fine) and today, as an adult, i continue to embrace whatever comes next.

that and it's increased my interest in third tier english football by ∞%

I watch vlogbrothers because I like to hear people who are educated about the realities of the world and yet are consistently hopeful for it, and actively try to be a part of the solution than being a part of the problem.

I'm a month late but I'm a big fan of three weeks of unpunished vacation. Why not four? Time away let's the work be more precious and exciting when you come back to it.

Honestly for me vlogbrothers has become this weird kind of stable thing in my life where, while I'm not necessarily active in nerdfighteria, I almost always watch your videos every week, and I listen to Dear Hank and John, and The Anthropocene Reviewed, and I've just come to see you guys as a part of my life. Like, I don't want to describe it as a friendship in any real sense, but I trust your judgement, and I'm consistently interested in what you have to say, and I think I would feel somehow as if something were missing from my life if I stopped hearing from you, in a similar way to how I would feel if I stopped hearing from one of my friends. I think there's this push for everything one produces or "puts out into the world" or whatever to have a solid and quantifiable affect, but I think some of the most valuable things don't fit into categories like that. You're a part of my life, even if it's a small part, and I'm grateful to you for it.

Vlogbrothers makes us happy. We watch your videos because we think you are important. We love John's books and we love hank's music (and soon to be released book) the only thing that we get out of this is a little hope, happiness, and laughter in our day. Thank you, John and Hank, so much for making our lives better you guys truly made a difference in our lives. We hope this channel never ends but when it does we will continue to be nerdfighters and fight world suck. DFTBA

The best vlogbrothers videos make me want to be a kinder and more thoughtful person. They encourage introspection or give name to a feeling I've never named before. Writing it down lie that, it sounds like a lot, but you guys do it on the reg.

I think you guys are intelligent, compassionate, and dedicated to the betterment of humanity. So few people fulfill all three criteria and when a channel and a community is that special, you hold on until the (hopefully not) bitter end

I'm 65 and suspect I'm not your normal demographic, my daughter introduced me to your channel about 5 years ago. I find I'm watching more and more during these troubling times. I have cut out most news sources (ostrich syndrome) and find you and Hank so informative and entertaining. Thank you and please don't stop you're a bright spot in a very dark world. #newoldnerdfighter

Vlogbrothers is pretty much the only content around that doesn’t feel like it’s performative so much as communicative. It feels less like sensationalistic ~content~ and more like two people having a conversation with each other and with their friends, which really is what the channel’s been from the beginning. Sometimes that conversation is serious and sometimes dumb and silly, but it never includes the phrase “don’t forget to like and subscribe!”

The end is nigh! Just kidding.
The middle is here. And I tend to middle pretty well.

I personally love your enthusiasm and unironic love of each other and things in general. You seem like lovely, genuine people, and although you're in the thick of the internet, and know about all the trends and slang and its obsession with self deprecation, you guys have kept yourselves separate. You're the happy-go-lucky uncles of Youtube. The ones you don't block on facebook and actually go visit from time to time. You've always used your platform for good and have never taken ill advantage of your audience. And that, in itself, is so admirable.

Honestly vlogbrothers has helped me become a better human being. You guys keep me informed about issues I had never thought about, but you guys also help me see other peoples points of view, even if you don't agree with them. Also your videos just make me smile most of the time.

I was raised in a small, conservative town in the Southern US. I don't resent that, and I don't wish I'd been raised elsewhere. But I did not grow up in an environment that encouraged open, honest questioning of important personal and interpersonal issues, or in an environment that fostered unironic enthusiasm for things that were considered "nerdy" or otherwise non-conventional for a male. I found vlogbrothers in 2008, when I was 14. I credit vlogbrothers for a large portion of why I ended up being the person I became. I'm the first man in my family to graduate from college, an openly progressive person with a fire for social issues, and I try my best to listen to marginalized groups and work with them to accomplish their societal goals. I wouldn't be this person without you, John and Hank. I watch vlogbrothers because the two of you essentially helped raise me. And I'm proud to have been part of this community for so long.

I like vlogbrothers for two things: the insightful introspective videos (much like this one), but also the sense of humor(s) you both have. Both the thoughts and questions you ask yourselves and viewers are unique, as are your jokes and fun videos. The channel is a breath of fresh air because it's so different from everything else out there.
