Taylor, I'm a 40 year old divorced dad of three daughters. I must say....thank you for this album. It touched my soul. You're a very talented woman. And I send your songs to my daughters. Telling them they are strong young women.

I’m loving how much piano is featured in the album. As a sad song girlie I think this album will be my absolute favourite

Such a tragic song about a relationship that was pure and true but they were just too different to make it. Hauntingly beautiful

Her "oh oh'' in the beginning was lovely...

the contrast of it actually being her lover and her sitting in a tree k-i-s-s-i-n-g but now its just her and her ghosts d-y-i-n-g is so heartbreaking

I love how the piano starts in this song.
I love the poetry in this song.
I love “my beloved ghost and me, sitting in a tree, D-Y-I-N-G.”
Shattered.

"He was a hothouse flower to my outdoorsman", a hothouse flower is someone who is very fragile and vulnerable as a result of having been sheltered.

The piano, the voice, the lyrics are just breathtaking.

I was shocked that this wasn't THE track 5 until I realized it is for the 2nd album. Taylor is the queen of sad songs and this may be the best yet.

The grief and sadness in this song is portrayed so gracefully. Taylor is a master, it’s undeniable. Wow…. Just wow.

This song’s bridge is the most tragically beautiful poetry I’ve heard. Hits you right in the heart.

We had plans to buy a house, adopt all the dogs and cats, travel the world… then one day, he decided he didn’t want a relationship anymore. No explanation, no emotion in his words. No contact ever since. He moved on like these years never happened and I’m a shell of my former self.

This song is absolutely devastating. I still don’t understand what happened. How did it end?

_guess who we ran into at the shoppes, walking in circles, like she was lost_ —truly devastating lyric. Really illustrates the sadness and feeling lost one feels after a break up.

I honestly don't know how she can live her life so openly with so many people watching and judging. She is one strong woman. 💪

Unpopular opinion ... This is the best song on the album

This has got to be one of the saddest songs Taylor has written. How hard it must be to have the world speculating how her relationship ended when she doesn't feel like she really knows, and you know she really wanted it to last. And then to have people pretending to care so that they can get the inside scoop and be empathetic to her pain but really for their own selfish reasons. There's so much being said in this song, and it's haunting.

Not being dramatic but this song has changed my life. This is the most beautiful piece of art I have ever heard in my life. If anyone ever has something to say against Taylor Swift's pen game and her RANGE?? Then show them this song. They'll probably need a dictionary.

Though this song is definitely about a break-up, I found myself relating to it in a different way. I've suffered from mental illness most of my life and the "How did it end" sort of echoes the long standing rumors of how I was during my darkest times. Did she go to rehab? She was inpatient treatment, didn't you hear? So sad, she had such a bright future. People wanted to know and talked about it, but from such an impersonal point of view. It's a beautiful song regardless how its interpreted.
