Former U.S. President Barack Obama has re-emerged in public for the first time since leaving the White House.
He attended a forum on Monday at the University of Chicago to speak to young people about his post-presidential priorities, which he said was to nurture the country's next generation of leaders.
Obama also took on several political and cultural issues he said was exacerbating the country's divisions, including gerrymandering, money's influence in politics, the fragmented media landscape and a lack of civic engagement.
However, to the disappointment of many, he did not mention his successor's name once.
