Hello friends,

My apartment search has finally concluded! For this search, I actually viewed over 20 apartments but for the sake of time, I picked out 10 that were interesting/depicted the rental market to share with you all. To be honest, I was really hesitant about sharing the price of the apartment that I ended up signing because I never want to come off as braggy or unrealistic (minus the title of this video, I never do clickbaity titles so please just let this one slide 🥲 ). Hopefully, this is the last apartment hunting video for a while because moving every year really sucks lol This was a highly requested video so I hope that I didn't let y'all down!

xx,
Julia

I literally screamed “WHAT?!” when I heard the rent for your new apartment. That is an absolute steal!! Congrats! Excited to see the move in/decorating vlogs 😊

Congratulations! That price is a steal. Also, the fact that you are getting new appliances, a fresh coat of paint, and buffed floors is a great deal. You can always DIY the cabinets and countertops and install new fixings in the bathroom. That is amazing.

Insaneee. I would sign up for that apt in a heartbeat. $1050 is cheaper than the average cost of a 1 bedroom apt in a lot of major cities. The fact that you were able to score that in NYC is impressive. Who cares if it’s old and dingy! You can spend the money you save on rent on decorating the heck out of it. You’re only young once! Happy for you!

ARE U KIDDING only a crazy person wouldn't sign ur apartment, it's a steal for sure!! I'm proud of u for making reasonable decision. You can always renovate or decorate it to make it homyy and I can't wait to see it!!💗

Dude, that broker’s fee is criminal! But you got an absolute STEAL! Also, as an old lady…let me tell you, how anyone feels about how you spend YOUR money is not your business. You’re paying not necessarily just for the apartment, but to live in an exciting, urban location. Haters are gonna hate. Congratulations!

You'd be insane not to grab that apartment up! A rent-stabilized apartment is GOLD. It's going to look charming once you've decorated it.

girl!!! honestly you do you there's no need to care about what other ppl think + the price is amazing as compared to what you were willing to pay for!! you'll be saving so much money from paying rent and be able to use that money for more life experiences!

I was shocked to see the actual apartment you got. When you said the rent price, it made sense. That is incredible for NYC. Hell it's almost impossible to get an apartment that price here in nowhere, Louisiana

As a New Yorker who is most probably going to have to look for a new apartment soon, nothing infuriates me more than these absolutely absurd 15% brokers fees for brokers who do actually zero work for them. criminal.

I think it's brilliant that you got the place you did for that price. I don't know how handy you are but I've seen some renter friendly YouTube videos that go over easy DIY tricks to get a renovated look. Congrats on your new home!

You got elevator, location, laundry, window light, storage, square footage and LOW RENT! I can't believe how low it is. In your build up I thought for sure it was going to be much higher. You did so well on this one. With the new kitchen appliances and floor/wall fixes (love the floor) it's going to look so good. And I KNOW you will interior decorate this into a beauty spot. Great choice. You must be so relieved to have the stress of the hunt over.

If the last person was happy enough to live there for 50 years then the energy there is good. That's a good sign.

I really appreciate that you went with a place that wasn't your top pick but was financially helpful for you. I recently did the same thing and just moved in, and I've been feeling bad about it but this video really changed my perspective on my decision. I can't wait to see what you do with the place!

25:30 Good job, Julia! Your decision making shows wisdom. You demonstrated much patience and perseverance. (I’m actually glad you didn’t get the more expensive ones. 😊)

Being able to see the potential in a place is an awesome skill that many people just don't have. You definitely made the right choice!!

I’m a former New Yorker who moved back after a decade in June. I almost got an apt just like this one in a central neighborhood for $1150 but the Broker fee was 15k….and as a single Mom, I was going to pay it to secure an apartment here for many years. These don’t come around often I’m told so this is very lucky. Congrats! I’ve been paying 3k a month instead 😢but by some miracle just won the housing lottery for a 2 bd in Brooklyn [still expensive at $2500] but with a child good for our future needs and it has in unit laundry and small terrace. Manhattan real estate is tricky and your video shows the reality of what we are dealing with unless you find a unicorn which you were lucky enough to find.
