Years ago I had a Honda Accord. My neighbour bought a new Tesla and bragged how fast it was. I told him, I will race you to a town I know and if you win, I will give you $1000. I live in Toronto and the town was about 150 miles north of lake Superior. It's about 700 miles from Toronto. He declined the race.

I have no regrets buying my EV in 2022 and have driven 56K in Toronto. Doesn't work for all but glad on my saving for the Premium gas over the last 3 years and 4 months. I charge from home and range is 475 km summer and 375km winter. Charging from home once a week cost $20 a month. Works for me. I had a Lexus IS 350 AWD and that was costing me $100 a week for fuel. I crunched the numbers for myself and it worked out.

Does the crappy battery life in cold weather get further impacted because you’re likely gonna have the heating on full in those sort of temperatures? If not then real world experience is going to be even worse

I live in the Sacramento area of Calif., so cold weather is not an issue. I see plenty of Tesla's everywhere but, only one or two Cybertrucks. Many people are impulsive buyers...big and small...buy without much research (homework) to see if that product is what they really want. Nowadays with the internet there is no excuse. One neighbor had to have an electrician special wire his house to charge his Tesla. Two days ago, I saw a charging station with about a dozen Tesla's being charged. Just the thought of having to arrange dropping off your Tesla to charge it...then having to go back and drive it home. What a hassle! Not for me!

Because of battery degradation and no simple and free battery swap options provided by Tesla as originally promised, people aren't going to drop that much on a used Tesla.

Penalizing Tesla for political disagreement with Elon is stupid since Tesla is a public company with millions of share holders. It is not exclusively owned by Elon so you're not penalizing the right person. The transition to EV is still the way to go for most people with a house. I'm so done with the plethora of ICE problems like head gaskets, auto transmissions, timing chain/belt, oil/coolant leaks, carbon buildup, PCV/Cats, alternator/starter issues, not to mention Turbos/Hybrid systems, etc.
