I had years of stain embedded in screw head did basically the same thing only put a small cap of paint remover. Great tip! Thanks.

Impact drill will usually break off the screw head if the screw offers too much resistance... and it will.

Another trick is not to use Philips head deck screws. Use star head deck screws instead if you go with screws. I'm in the process of removing my twenty year old deck boards I put in with star heads. Much easier to clean out and 99% of the 500 or so I put in came back out.

what kind of drill are you using? i feel like mine is too weak but not sure what kind of drill to upgrade to.
