Thank you so much, Keith! Your lessons are always interesting.
1. Look up to SO = to admire and respect someone. - He'd always looked up to his teachers.
2. To crop up = to appear unexpectedly / suddenly
I have to work late today, something cropped up at work.
In my hometown, Chinese restaurants are cropping up everywhere.
3. To nail down = to identify clearly (answer, time, reason)
It’s hard to nail down the reason, but maybe it’s because ….
4. To single out = To choose one from a group
I would single out one main reason, and that is….
5. To iron out ST = to get rid of / to remove (problems, difficulties, misunderstandings)
The best way to iron out the problem is…..
6. To pack in = to stop doing ST
I went to the gym for 3 months but then I packed it in. I just didn’t have enough time to go.
I want to pack in my job. It’s not very rewarding & badly paid.
I took up painting, but then I packed it in, because I didn’t enjoy it very much.
7. To ache for = to long for / to desire strongly
I’m aching for a holiday / a beer /a night out.
8. To drag on = to last longer than necessary
The pandemic has been dragging on for such a long time.
The meeting has dragged on for ever.
9. To do away with ST = to remove, stop, abolish (law, rule, tax, restrictions…)
I wish we could do away with facemasks.
I think the government should do away with this law.
10. To set back = to cost a lot of money
This car set me back a few thousand dollars.
It set me back a fortune.
11. To slip up = to make a mistake (work, relationship, government)
I slipped up at work yesterday, I made a huge mistake, I lost my manager’s presentation.
I slipped up last week, I forgot my wife’s birthday.
12. To flick through = to look through quickly (books, magazines)
I was flicking through the newspaper the other day and I saw an article about healthy eating.

There are many people in the world who do a job, but only a few of them really have the necessary skills and abilities that made others feel like they are exactly where they should be, and present their work with love in the best possible way.
You are definitely one of them.
Good luck

Thank you so much, Keith, I have not seen anyone who teaches lots of knowledge to their students but charges nothing. Your sense of humor is just so unique. Again, thank you for your contribution to the English learner community.
