thank you for the kind, words. i almost gave up on nursing, i felt humiliated by teachers and preceptor even students, it was the worst nightmare of my life. although i finally graduated, i am always kind and understanding to students who come to me for help, i have been there and i know how it feels.

Thank you for this video :) I just started my first RN position on a surgical floor 3 weeks ago and have been feeling really incompetent lately. I feel like I do things too slowly and that I'm slowing my preceptor down. My preceptor is extremely patient with me and supportive, but at the end of every shift I drive home and just feel like crying. Everything is so overwhelming (the charting, the medications, assessments, infusion pumps, calling doctors, etc) and I'm worried that I'm gonna screw up really badly when I'm caring for patients on my own 😔 this video was very helpful in that it made me realize every new grad probably feels like this at the beginning. Thank you EmpoweRN :)

An instructor told me about your videos back in nursing school and your tips are so helpful. I'm a new nurse in the ICU and really struggling with confidence issues due to unkind coworkers. Thank you for what you do!

Thank you so much for this video!!!! I was posted the same day of my first and worst clinical day!! I was made to feel so inadequate from my clinical instructor. Shooting nonstop questions of care. I felt like a deer in headlights!! Then I questioned everything I did that day. There is so much knowledge in my brain that I am not able to pull the information out as fast as I'd like. I believe that some instructor are quick to forget that we are still learning and that we have not mastered being a great nurse yet. It takes lots time and more nurturing than you can imagine. Your video is a blessing!! Thanks so much!

THANK YOU FOR THIS! this channel means so much for me! I am a senior about to graduate in may and I am more than terrified. I'm considered "quiet" and too reserved and your personal testimonies help a lot!

You're amazing. You must make such a difference to so many nursing students and nurses out there. Truly you are a blessing and I'm so grateful for your videos. Not just for me but for the support and education they provide for thousands.

Thanks for another uplifting video. Even as a nurse with experience i just started a new job in cardiac, a field I have so much to learn about. It can make you feel inadequate starting something new. What helps me is looking up things I don't know and looking for resources that i can study up on. I know a preceptor won't teach me every thing I need to know, it's up to me to go out and learn as much as i can even if that means doing some "homework."

I think ive watched this before, but i had to watch again and i thank you. I have been having big time thoughts of quitting because i am really struggling in nursing school, my sim lab basically exists to let everyone sit around the table and all your peers criticize you, pointing out every last mistake you made during your scenario and its a joke. I really wanted school to be a positive experience, but i have only made it to med surg 1. In 8 months i could graduate if i could pull it together, but at my school you get very little teaching and lots of testing to see if you know it. I saw how to start an IV one time by my instructor then I had to do it yesterday in Simulation lab and guess what, i made a couple mistakes and was then raked over the coals. Thats just one of many many examples. Im so discouraged and need help so i appreciate your videos. Ive got to figure out how to be an awesome nurse by watching youtube cause I wont get it at school.

This is one of the most powerful videos I've watched! I'm not even a nurse and my field is no where near medicine but I learned, got affirmed of my own beliefs, felt inspired and even got a few tips to help me on my journey to help people! Thank you for making awesome videos!!

I've been watching your videos ever since I was accepted into nursing school and they've been so helpful! I am in my final quarter of nursing school and I start my first day of precepting tomorrow! I am both nervous and excited and I think these are great tips that I will try out. Thanks for sharing this video!

Thank you for addressing this! I brought up some of my concerns to a preceptor about feeling "inadequate." She essentially said the same thing, "You will graduate a novice. Nursing school is teaching you how to not to kill someone and making you a generalist in all areas. You will learn to be a real nurse in the real world." Nobody knows how grateful I am for the nurses that I can be transparent with and have sincere and encouraging conversations with.

Thank you so much! I will have your words in my head upon starting my last acute placement, well it's my last ever placement as well. I just have to remember that you can't know everything and like you said to rephrase questions and know that I'm worth it and I have come so far when many have dropped out! Thank you again it is very much appreciated !

Thank you so much for this video! Last month I took my NCLEX for the first time and failed. It has made me feel so unmotivated and inadequate.. All my nursing friends keep saying "oh you're so smart, you'll pass it the second time around", but those words aren't helping my feeling of inadequacy and not being good enough. Although this video is pertaining to feeling inadequate as a new nurse (which I will definitely feel whenever that happens), what you have said in this video is really helping me right now. Thank you so so much, your kindness and positivity is much appreciated!!
