Having come to your channel last September, it's fun seeing all the books I remember you hauling and reading journey.

It's often difficult when somebody recommends something to let them know that it really isn't for you, so I understand the need to unhaul.
I think that you will enjoy A Dutiful Boy, even though it would have less resonance for you than it would for me, as my partner is from a Muslim country. It's well written and finally very moving.
I'm reading Ducks Newburyport as I would chat to a friend. Sometimes it might be for an hour, sometimes only five minutes, and I can quite easily talk to others in the meantime. I've set no limit on myself to finish it, as sometimes I might want to read two or three other books uninterrupted, but it's such an easy book to pick up after several days away from it. Maybe that's how Ellman intended it to be read.
Have a great time in Italy. Some of my favourite places include Bergamo, Urbino and Bologna outside of the usual big ones.

Rebecca is as spooky as you can get without having actual manifestations. And one of my favourites books of all time

Agree with Love by T.M. But damn, she’s so good. She’s one of those authors I’ll buy any book I see by her anywhere I go.

The Rules of Civility & A Gentleman in Moscow are great. The Lincoln Highway is good but not on par with previous books.

Nothing to See Here was a surprise love for that year after not enjoying the author's previous book, but the audio is great so you can always go back to that one. I struggled a lot with The Water Dancer. I don't know where to start with Amor Towles, either, so I might never - although I've heard more consistently positive things about Rules of Civility. You're not missing anything by passing Imaginary Friend along. It was an interesting read but it's too long for what it is.

The Lincoln Highway was one of my favorites in 2021. Leave the World Behind....that book left me unsettled. I have been looking for The Secret Lives of Church Ladies in every bookstore I enter but no luck. I really need to just go ahead and order it. Finally, I too have an unread copy of Rebecca. Depending on who you ask it's either wonderful or boring.

OMG I've been meaning to read Love for a while now, she's one of my favorite authors. I began reading it once for a book club but then nobody else in the club got the book so I didn't finish it. Hopefully I'll get to it soon! My least favorite Morrison has been the Bluest Eye.

The Water Dancer is a great audiobook.

I listened to the audiobook of Nothing to See Here, and found it quite humorous in its absurdity. (I have not read any others by that author.) Rebecca is collecting dust on my shelf, too. Rarely do I read classics, but thought I would try it... some day.

I really loved A Gentleman in Moscow very much. I have read Lincoln Highway, but cannot speak to it, as it is part of the Booktube competition. I believe the winners will be announced sometime this month.

The Secret Life of Church Ladies was one of my best books of September. Lots of great short stories read for #shortyseptember.
