How to calculate sales tax

I show how to calculate the final price when you know the sales tax percentage. I show a few examples of using mental math and a few to be done with a calculator. I also show how to make this into a single calculation instead of first calculating the tax and then adding (which is two calculations).

In all my years of learning math (im 18 now attending college) I would have never realized how easy "sales tax" calculations are without your help. Thank you so much, fantastic teaching there. Simplistic, understanding explanations helped me with much ease.

You do such a wonderful job!
Another way to explain the quicker way which I used to use with my students is to say we pay 100% of the price for the item itself plus the sales tax of say 9%. It is easy to add those to 109%. Changing the percent to a decimal, we multiply the sale price times 1.09.
I enjoy your videos very much!

Can you answer me pls, Why did you have to multiply 1% and 2% to 35 ?

And do I have to do it exactly the same way as yours ? So when am adding tax I have first added 1% and 2 % first ?? before multiplying it to 6% ?

Sorry am still trying to work out my mathematics :( I hate math when i was in primary but now trying to learn it again and getting to know how numbers work :) Your help would be great ..xo
