At 6'-6" I've often said that I shop for cars like I shop for shoes (13's:) First find something I fit in then decide if I like it. The "normal" size person can't appreciate how limited the options are so I appreciate the effort to help make our quest a bit easier. In addition to the number of inches of leg and head room, there are three other variables that need to be factored in:

First there's the matter of center console height and width. For those of use who need to spread the knees a bit to get comfortable that wide, high console literally can be a real pain.

Then there's the issue is sunroofs. Sunroofs drop the roof liner down significantly. So while you may actually have more headroom if your head is right beneath the sunroof, move it one way or another and you're whacking it on the inner edge of the ceiling liner. A related annoyance is the fact that most car companies bundle sunroofs with other optional equipment making it impossible to get equipment you may want, like the premium sound system, without also getting the sunroof.

Then finally there's seat "adjustablilty" and seat bottom length for under thigh support. There are a several vehicles that I technically fit in but in which I just can't get comfortable due to the seat design- the Chevrolet Traverse and Ford Explorer are a couple examples. My current and previous vehicles are Jeep Grand Cherokees. I fit in the GC better than any vehicle I think I've ever owned. Also a big plus is the fact that sunroofs are stand alone options. With respect to Jeep, the Renegade has amazing head and leg room. While it's not my cup 'o tea, it should be on everyone's tall person car list.

German brands, VW (the Golf is a great option), BMW, Porsche/Audi have a lot of models that work for tall people as well but obviously most are in the "luxury" segment. As for Honda and Toyota, by far the best options are their minivans, the Odyssey and Sienna. Then surprisingly its the Honda Fit and the Toyota Prius' lineup that are their best options for tall people. I fit in a Prius better than a Toyota Tundra-go figure... Hyundai and Kia seem to be getting tighter on space with their more current offerings. I've checked out both the new Palisade and Telluride and I don't fit well in either.

Thank you brother! You are the first auto reviewer, that I have watched, that has thought about us tall people. I'm 6'4". Thank you again.

My husband is 6'6" and after a long car hunt, he managed to fit comfortably enough with the seat pulled all the way back into a Hyundai Azera

As a 6’6” tall man, thank you for making this video. Have you made one about the best ergonomically designed drivers seat?

Cadillac XT5 (mine is a 2017). At 6'2", 320 lbs. I open the door, slide in and go. What a joy.

Check out the Chevy BOLT EV. I am 6'7'' and fit in it very comfortably. I also have a solid 4" headroom. It has heated front and rear leather seats, a heated steering wheel, big screens, and a nice stereo and it's way more fun to drive than any car in this video because it's electric with a low center of gravity. You can pick up a used one for $20k and they last forever. Mine is 6 years old and all I've ever done to it is replace the tires and wipers. Plus, it's saved me around $18k in gas in that time.

6ft 9in over here. I hardly fit into my 03 Odyssey with no sunroof. I found that the Genesis G80 can be really nice but personally I am more interested in something with a manual (the genesis g70 does have one but I feel very tight inside). I am not sure what to get next as all these new cars with sun roofs make it that much worse for me. I feel claustrophobic in my parents 17' Pilot and it's already taller. Basically every car I drive I've got some level of slouch required by me to not constantly rub my head on the roof.

Great review. Thanks for sharing. The legroom is why I purchased the 2018 Chevrolet Impala.

At 6'4", I find that the Kia Soul has great leg and headroom. I'm also mobility inpaired, and find that the huge doors ease ingress. Great review, Dave. New subscriber. 👍

I don’t know why the Kia K900 isn’t sold in Europe. It’s not like the car is too big, or too inefficient. Maybe because it’s not desirable, but to me, it is.

Asian cars tend to have serious headroom. Surprising.

Plus if you buy the Land Rover think of all the exercise you'll get abandoning your vehicle on the highway.

what car would you recommend for a college student thats 6'6? I have a few grand saved up but some of these cars are not even close with the money i have.

Awesome list, but I have to ask... Why would you review a list of cars for tall people without giving the headroom dims for all of the vehicles that you recommend?

Why does no one ever say Mini Cooper? They have TONS of room, though climbing out can suck if you have knee issues because they sit really low to the ground. I'm 6'10 and have plenty of room.

I'm 6' 4" and still growing. Right now I have a 2006 Honda civic cope with little to no leg space for me and I don't really have the money for a car like these because I'm only 17. Can you review any trucks with leg space like this that are in the more affordable range?
