I think of it this way: would cynicism or nihilism be philosophies to raise and teach our children with? Neither would help a child build trust or confidence. The young adult who grew up with cynical or nihilistic parents would likely have a damaged outlook from the start and overlook many opportunities to build positive relationships and flourish as a human being.

For a stoic it's a bit sloppy to use the word cynisism in the modern meaning. It's similar to refering to emotionless people as stoic.

To say cynicism and nihilism are enemies is like not tearing down old, delapidated buildings and just building new ones. Or not ridding yourself of bad habits or vices and just adopting more traits. Nihilism is a process, and yes if nihilism is the end and there is nothing to replace it with then you have nothing left. Congrats you understood what nihilism is, tearing down to rebuild and improve. Another example, if you horde all your belongings all your life, never throwing anything away ever because "if I start throwing away, eventually, i will have nothing left" (that is whole refusal of nihilism) then you will rot in your clutter. You need nihilism to rid yourself of unwanted and undeeded belongins/traits/aspects. But keep what deserves to be kept and dont let nihilism rule over you.

Nihilism is a part of any form of life. Culture, understanding, progress, all of it. Only at the end, keep and replace what you need. Its like death at the end of a life, so the son can fill the void his father left.

And what about all the parents that beat their kids thinking it will help ?
So your saying these kids go through life not being able to think.

i thought cynic philosophy was good?
the reason cynicism is how it is defined today is that the cynics showed a way to live a good life but society didn't want to live that way so the cynics would kinda throw their hands up and be like society is doomed and therefore we have the meaning of cynicism as we know it today right?


also weren't the stoics an offshoot of Cynic philosophy?
