Life in the polar night close to the North Pole | Svalbard

All I can say is WOW! We saw it brewing in the sky all day, then we jumped in to our car to check out what was going on above Longyearbyen. It was nothing short of spectacular! I live on Svalbard, an island close to the North Pole and we are currently in our Polar Night, which means no daylight! It is the perfect time to hunt for the elusive northern lights ⭐️

This was really beautiful to watch in sunny Southern California, where, sadly, we never see the aurora. I saw the aurora once during a flight from Los Angeles to Dublin. We were over central Greenland. Almost everyone on the plane was sleeping. The lights were low. I looked out the window to my left and saw a big green vertical curtain of light that seemed to be very very close to the plane. It went from far below, almost through the plane, and all the way up into the ionosphere. It was magical. I want to go to Svalbard. Thank you. The full moon was also beautiful. It didn't seem to impede your photos. Normally, a full moon means no photos of the sky at night.

Collected thoughts from a week, finding your channel and binge watching all of your vlogs:

- Your energy is a BLISS. Like seriously. You’ve got THE best energy 💨 I wish I had half of it myself. That would make my pessimistic headspace much easier to manage 😅

- I’m not sure ANYONE can possibly love their dog as much as you love Grim!! He’s one lucky little man dog! I just adore how much he means to you. It shows 🦁

- You two (your MAN man, not dog man) are the kind of couple I would watch from a distance and tell my husband “We would have so much fun with them, but are we really super creepy if we ask them home for dinner and some video games?”. And then actually NOT get the instant urge to freak out about what kind of weird shit you might be been hiding from us all - just be curious 😆

- Svalbard is freakin’ amazing. But I would NEVER ever want to live there. It’s the worst kind of nightmare for me. Probably couldn’t even if I wanted, due to health care. But…. Im not even sure I would like to visit either 😂 And yet it fascinates me massively. It’s confusing, but I’m soooo happy I get to see it all through your channel.

- And that 👆🏻 is because of who you are. Your storytelling is spot on. The quality of the filming is superb. And your voiceovers are always 👌🏻 to listen to. You’re just always bringing out the best vibe around you.

- I WOULD and have done the same things. Photography etc. In a house without running water and no water closets, showers or washing at home. Just… somewhere else and easier 🙋🏼‍♀️ 🏝 🐠 ☀️

- Your village reminds me of some small towns in rural southern New Zealand. But then, there you’re never that far away from civilisation.

- You’re just an brilliant artist. I love everything about it!! 🙌🏻

Hello from the middle of Michigan, USA! Sometimes in the upper peninsula of our state we get to see the northern lights in the winter and I’ve only seen them once! I love how even though your conditions are much different than here I feel like our way of living is very similar! I’ve lived in a VERY small town my whole life tucked back in the woods and we’ve really learned to respect and live off our land 😊 I also hope one day you add English subtitles to whenever you guys speak Swedish! I follow another Swedish youtuber Jonna Jinton and you remind me so much of her I think that’s why YouTube suggested your videos to me haha I just recently started watching your videos this last month and am observing already!
