The idea of a blackout of the sun depresses me. I do like hearing of your experience though.

These are the kind of places that give you that chill vibe that everything is alright

I am a rare example of seasonal depression in that I have it during the summer months! I can’t STAND summer: the heat & long daylight hours keep me hiding behind blackout curtains in air conditioned solitude during June, July & August. I would LOVE to experience Polar Night & know the only problem I’d have is when it ends😐

as a night owl i never thought the darkness would bother me much, but having lived in the far north of sweden for a few years... it does. even if the polar night isn't nearly as long there and the sun sits just below the horizon so you get a couple of hours of sunrise/sunset light and not just complete blackness... even so, the day the sun rises again is a day of celebration and the feeling of sunshine on your face for the first time in the spring is a feeling of visceral joy and relief.

The lack of light doesn’t bother me but the abundance of bears do

I live in Svalbard as well! Great place to lose or gain a fear of the dark…and polar bears 😂

Yup! I've lived with it for 30 years in Northern Norway lol. But of course the sun is only gone for 2 months here. I really need that yearly break from the sun. It's cozy.

Extreme night owl here: I would love it! Bright daylight hurts my eyes, and I swear I cannot think straight until it's dark outside.

I'd love to hear more about how people adapt. Do many people sleep longer, or do work hours require more of a routine? 💕

I would love it also. You need rain to enjoy the sun. Why not darkness for the same gratitude also 🤷🏽‍♀️💕🕯️

I grew up in Alaska. At least we know the Earth is round. It is the exact opposite in the south like Antarctica. Our summers are their winters, our winters are their summers of light 24/7 and vice versa.
