Understanding Brexit: The UK votes to leave the EU

A video in which I attempt to explain Brexit: the UK's referendum and its EU membership.

In this video, I look at: the history of the EU, the process of the UK joining the ECC, some possible reason people wanted to leave, the results of the referendum itself, as well as what the future of the UK may hold..

This video has a couple of minor errors: at one point the words "Leave" and "Remain" are the wrong way round (though the colours are correct) and in one of my maps I seem to have somehow deleted Portugal..

Anyway, starting from my next video, I'd like to try and avoid errors like these so I'm going to experiment with releasing the video to a small audience first before going public. Wow, you presented way more facts and reasoning than any news coverage I've ever seen. Could you just run all need channels from now on? Everybody just tried to push their agenda rather than give the facts. I loved the way you presented both sides and used facts that no one else even knew existed up until this point to back them up.

I'm still kind of puzzled by the result of the vote. It seems like most of the potential benefits of leaving aren't actually realistic (control of immigration and regulations for example) but I guess people didn't really read too much into it and just said "screw Europe"

I'm glad there's at least one video out there which doesn't attempt to subtly sway its viewers to agree with their viewpoint while pretending to not have a strong opinion about Brexit. Respectfully done and well put together, I say.

The UK has been "more divided than ever" on the EU for decades. The Brexit vote didn't suddenly change that, it just illuminated it more.

Several reasons why Turkey shall not join the EU in the near future:
- After the failed coup Erdogan is becoming increasingly authoritarian and the last thing the EU wants is an authoritarian president as their member.
- Turkey is bordered by Syria (need I say more?)
- They are currently at war with the PKK (the kurdish worker's party)
- There are large cultural differences between Turkey and Europe. Europe is predominantly Christian while Turkey is Islamic.
- Cyprus will definitely veto its membership due to issues with Northern Cyprus.
