These two people live in their own world, which is in la la land. On Gaza issue at least, Chinese position is supported by global south which probably constitute two third of the world. China is not supporting Hamas terrorist activities, what China want is for both warring parties to cease fire and go back to diplomacy. That is sensible demand, unlike what the US want, to let Israel having out of jail free card to commit genocide.

CPC and PLA should cross the middle more often to tell Taiwan DPP that there is no Real Middle Line, and there will be No Middle Line in the Future...

Looking back the changes in Chinese millitary activities and buildup, you find that most changes occured when the US increase its actitivities or some provocative change of policies, such as Nancy Pelosi visit to Taiwan, weapon sales to Taiwan and AUKUS. Chinese do best in trading with the world. Any millitary conflict would harm Chinese core interests. The US is the more aggressive side and China is more defensive. As the US publically defines China as the greatese enemy, China just have to grow its millitary capabilities to protect itself. The Chinese navy started fast expansion only after the US started “pivot to Aisa" by moving 60% of its navy force around China.

I cannot believe Mr Rudd’s analysis is such shallow and superficial even so he claimed he could read Chinese. He does not have independent views, and very biased. Could he turn back to analyze Australian previous extreme right wing governments. Ask why current Australian left-wing government is so easy to visit China and pleased the Chinese government? Without understanding his government, how do you know Chinese affairs?

Also, he should stand in front of mirror, look himself, now and 10 years ago, how much he has changed during this period?

In due respect to the commentator and Kevin Rudd, you cannot expect Chinese government to have dialogue with a government that cannot keep promise or continue disrespecting Chinese’s core concern. If US continue sending military aircrafts and ships with Allies to China’s doorstep, dialogue not helping the situation. The question is to US why? I found it puzzling

Hey Kevin, here in the States, our economic system is not the be all that ends all....inequality out of the wazooo, real wages for the average American still stuck in the 1970s, social security going bankrupt in a few years, 60 millions peeps with no health insurance, no national health care, the majority of peeps living paycheck to paychecks, unprecedented homelessness, incarceration, early deaths from despair, drug addiction and alcoholism whilst the Billionaire class the likes of Trump pays less than 500 dollars/year in taxes...and oh, btw the CCP meanwhile uplifted 800 millions out of poverty, dealt with the property bubble and kept the billionaire class in check....What say you muerfuer....

haha...what a load of self-saving narratives from 19:00 onwards...It is the Australian political leaders and enterprises who were eager to visit and made the visit to China and not the other way around...🤭🤭

it is completely misinterpretation of Xi's meeting with business in APEC. It is more the US businesses wishing to see Xi, not the other way around

What a surprise that they didn't get around to considering how China might be responding to the US $10 billion worth of weapons now being considered as a gift to boost Taiwan's army.

@25:00 Note: not "about a year in" but only two months into the Biden administration--March 18-19 did Blinken meet with Yang Jiechi.

The correct interpretation about China's economic policy should be, China will be more open compared to previously.
Will have more cooperation with outside economy.
But considering about the western economy is seeking for decoupling/de-risking (whatever you name it), China will enhance it's internal economy incentives to continue it's economy growth, but more open cooperation with international communities will still be the main approach.
We are in the new era for human being as a whole, so many challenges are there, cooperations in all perspectives is something essential rather than optional.

Mr. Ambassador should suffice. Ambassador Rudd obviously cannot be as candid as he was before he once again joined the Aussie government. One obvious example to illustrate this is when Kevin lists economic challenges of the Chinese economy he neglects to include the tariffs, sanctions and other economic warfare measures of the USA.

The real issue which needs to be explained is what has made the Chinese Communist Party to push back against prominent sectors of private economy. It seems that the potential of the private sector's potential to convert its economic power into support for policies which would further expand the private sector
in ways that would still not really improve the income and consumption of workers and employees. The urgency to address this issue is emphasized by the inability of economic growth to increase polulation growth, in fact population going down, a major failure of the Opening Up Model of Development. Xi Jing Ping
wants to arrest any debate on these policy issues wanting to impose his own diktat without worrying about its implications.

This conversation is quite glaring with regards to the changing views of KR about China and his accommodations of the US led western narratives about China.
