Of course the newly built roads, bridges, and transit systems in China look modern, clean, and impressive, they’ve just been built! In contrast, older infrastructure often reflects wear and tear from decades of use, and in many cases, there’s limited space or feasibility for major upgrades. We need to be realistic and consider the age, context, and challenges of each system before drawing superficial comparisons.
