A good tip about team building as well, is just try out some other people's teams before building your own. Trying out already well taught out teams so you can actually see how a well constructed team runs, as well as watching and learning from people who used that team competitively.
i.e. after watching the Baltimore Regionals, I really liked finalist Paul Chua's hyper-offense team, specially that Alolan Ninetales, so I'll be playing with it for a few days.
