One problem, ….good luck finding a 991.1 C4S for $60k. Also, I owned a 2013 C2S and…..it’s not the best. The later years of 991.1 Like 2015 and 2016 are much better from suspension and steering standpoint. Remember, this is Porsche’s first EPS system. It took a few years of tweaking to get it right. But the 3.8 engine sings and adores revs. And the 991 strikes a good balance of comfort and sport.

If only BMW can make them lighter. Porsche is really the ultimate driving machine

Lovely review. I feel the same way. Went from an F80 to a 991.2 T and never looked back. None of the new BMWs appeal to me anymore.

Seems about right, the Porsche has always been a driver's car for raw experiences.

Nice review.
You’ll forget it is 10 years old- until you get the maintenance/repair bills 😅- as they say at the end.

I was lucky enough to pick up a Cayman R for less than $35k because it has over 100k miles. It's 12 years old, it's in beautiful condition, last owner put Ohlins suspension on it. It wants for nothing, it just has that high milage, but what else could I get for the fun it gives me. Keep your new cars! My daily is a Van! lol the Porsche is for fun.

The production quality of this channel is outstanding. I watch all episodes - even if you are reviewing cars that I have little interest in. Your reviews are always well thought out and informative.

Great perspective for comparison. Maintenance cost is a wild card outside of warranty but otherwise performce cars of past ~15 years ago are plenty for public roads or even non-competitive track days. Any non-wrecked performance/sportscar sice 2002 is a candidate for second sporty car in your garage.

The 991 will depreciate less. That should cover the Porsche maintenance premium.
All 911's are just elegant and classy.
Personally, forget age. I look at all the 911 generations differently than most other manufacturers long standing models.
Each generation is a distinct car. I tend not to really think of them in terms of age, "a new 911" or "an old 911".
If I see a 997 or a 993 or any other 911 I don't think "that's an old 911", I just think "there's a nice 997". Each has its own special charm. I don't generally look at other maker generations in this way.

The problem is you will remember it is 10 years old every year you take it into the shop. Great video

I have this car! Well, mine is a 2012 991 C2S with PDK. Mine has sport Chrono. I've had it 8 years and not one problem. Biggest cost are tires and 1 brake job (discs and rotors). I love it. I had a 997 and I can't tell that the steering has any less feel or precision.

6 years ago I put a deposit on the 1st M2, then started thinking. I can get a 2009, 997.2 /911S for the same money. I bought the 911 and 18 months later parlayed that into the '17 991.2 I have now. It was the right decision then and now. Drive the 911, you'll never look back.

Great as always! Great camera, audio, especially the 911. Love how you’re comparing new to a used in a similar price range, now that the M2 is out. Does it compare more closely?

The 991.1 4s now around 75-80K easily, hard to compare. Similar price range is 991.1 base or 997.2S. And after three years, BMw worth 35K, 911 worth 10K more as 992.2 will be hybrid. Easy choice isn’t it?

Just read all the comments here, and crazy that Someone replaced their 2012 911 trans… twice. Haven’t heard that one yet. The thing no one has mentioned is that the 911 ages like a fine wine. I have a 2010 Targa 4S with 37k miles that I intend on keeping as long as I can. I had it fully wrapped in PPF to maintain the finish in an urban environment, and it’s my only vehicle (hatch back makes it somewhat practical)

Great video as always. In this market a 991.1 4S is about $75-80k. I assume the owner bought it in 2020 or earlier. If I could find one for $60k, Porsche 911 all the way, no contest. I have a Miami Blue 2017 991.2 manual that I bought in 2020 with 8k miles CPO for $75k. She' a keeper.

Love, love, love my c2s 991.1. Have had it for 8 years, and it still feels special every time I drive it

I drove my first 911 (991.2) on their Utah Adventure, and I was floored by how involving it was. I'd rather the old Porsche just because it was so fun and inviting to become a better driver.

I bought a 2012 991.1 C4S in 2016 and love it. I cover 8000 miles a year in UK and Euro road trips. I've looked to change to a 992 or RS4/5, but why, it's fantastic and reliable! The 3.8 engine is hard to beat. As a bonus it's only lost around $15K in value in 5/6 years too and values are strong and getting stronger.

the 911 is without a doubt the right choice. I have been in the market for one for a while. I have not had much luck finding a 2012 - 2015 carrera 4 s for less than 80k.
they turn up occasionally but are the exception and tend to have a lot of miles, more than 70k miles.
