Tommy has really become a fantastic car reviewer.

gx460 dials are one of the most attractive analog dials I have seen. I love it.

It seems crazy to me, but when i see them next to each other, i actually think the older one looks much more expensive. Not saying i prefer the old design, but for some reason the new one seems kind of less premium.

Great video, enjoy the Father Son dynamic. My dad always loved cars too. Personally I like the older look of the GX, maybe the new one will grow on me. Keep up the great work on your videos.

Great video. As an owner of a ‘23, the new GX is sexy as hell. It also is a brand new model so I’d give it at least a couple years to iron out. With that said, my V8 will last forever and I highly enjoy her.

Without a doubt the 2nd generation with that V8 is a diamond gem. The bulletproof engine and trans will outlast a lifetime. The NEW GX will last moderately with higher maintenance and higher repair cost of Turbo and more complexity. If I was in the market for GX, I would run to buy the 2nd generation.

Unpopular opinion but I think the older one actually looks better, classier and more unique.

You can tell this young man was raised right. He says "Dad" almost after every statement. Well done!

I went from an FJ Cruiser, to a 5th gen 4Runner, to a Lexus GX, to a Land Rover Defender, back to the 5th gen 4Runner TRD Off Road, in half of my 29 years of life lol. Unfortunately (compared to the 4Runner) the heavier V8 in the GX caused some issues during trail use. I ended up swapping to the Defender after the GX and really enjoyed it, but ultimately I intended rough trail use, so sold the Defender and went back to the trusty 5th gen 4Runner lol.

I'm going to have the first GX 550 in my city lol. I can't wait!

Lexus GX is always the answer. You can't go wrong with either generation smile😊

New GX looks better for sure but it's really hard for me to justify the massive price difference for my uses. The GX460 can be found for $20-30k cheaper right now and it's still damn good.

that new GX one of the sexiest SUV on the market

The old one's interior actually looks better to me just watching the video. Exterior design of the new one is much better. The high tow numbers will not apply to a travel trailer. That thing would be tossed all over the place towing a travel trailer that weighed north of 8k. Should be ok with thing that don't present a huge frontal area though.

Unpopular opinion - I sat in the new Overtrail trim at the DC Auto Show and was not impressed. Too much hard plastic for a premium product. I’d rather save some money and scoop up a 2024 4Runner Limited before EOY. Felt just as nice, if not nicer, than the GX550 Overtrail.

We bought a 2022 Gx 460 and we plan on keeping it a while. Not sure if I trust the reliability on the new ones with all the screens and twin turbo v6 yet.. Time will tell!

I am loving my old GX now, will wait until the new one on the market for some time and some issues got exposed and fixed. And I will definitely switch to the new one

Love the the new GX. I will say that old track pad works great once you figure it out.

Although the new Gx looks gorgeous in photos, up close next to the last generation it actually looks very disappointing. The refinement and class has left Lexus with this newer generation

As I own the 2023 GX equipped exactly as reviewed in this video, I can say that I don't see that many upgrades in the 2024 GX to justify a 11K increase in price. The 2023 shown here is a luxury trim with the offroad package and it does have a 360 camera as well, along with Captains Chairs, leather, etc. Sure, on the 2024 the towing capacity is higher and you get more power, and you have a heads up display option and a rear locker, but the overall packaging of the 2023 is better, in my opinion - the second row folds flat in the 2023, where in the 2024 they have the "tumble forward" design which eats up usable space, the rear wiper folds away when not in use in the 2023 while it stays on the rear glass on the 2024, the swing out rear door is exactly the same as other serious offroaders like the Wrangler, Bronco, Defender, so not sure why the 2024 flip up design is more "off road worthy", the 2023 is narrower for better maneuverability on narrow offroad trails (like the current 4Runner), embedding climate controls in the digital display, including seat heat and vent controls, is harder to use off road. And, finally, we don't even get much better, if not exactly the same, fuel economy than the old, extremely reliable V8 in the 2023 - this, with a new 10 speed transmission. I know you mentioned that a hybrid is coming, but how much more money will that cost? Seems like Toyota did a reskin, added a few features, and then priced it much higher - that's it.

Most people would rather have a functional system. Our 2022 Volvo xc60 infotainment fails all the time. Buttons generally won’t fail
