All I can think about is someone trying to learn English speaking to a gen alpha kid and getting really confused and upset 😭

The best is using it with your kids because not only do they hate it but they stop temporarily. I also like using it juuuust slightly incorrectly.

The horrible feeling when your Gen Z but you actually were able to translate it

To all the people saying, “It’s because Gen Z made the slang terms!” you’re partially wrong.
1. Skibidi — gibberish term made by Biser King in his song “Dom Dom Yes Yes”, and he is Gen Z.
2. L — first used in sports and by Gen Xers as slang, not Gen Z.
3. Rizz — came from Kai Cenat, who is Gen Z, so Gen Z
4. Gyatt — same thing Kai Cenat Gen Z.
5. Ohio — came from Lil B’s down like Ohio, so not Gen Z, it’s made by a Millennial
6. Fanum Tax — came from Fanum who is Gen Z, so it’s Gen Z
7. No Cap / Cap — first used by Gen X rapper, Willie D in “Put The F[ri]ckin' Gun Away” as “high capping”. So it’s not Gen Z, it’s Gen X.
8. Mid — started as slang for mediocre Marij**na in the early 2000’s, making it likely Millennial slang.
9. Sigma — created by Gen X activist, Vox Day. So not Gen Z.

Of the terms here:
Gen Z origin: 4
Gen X origin: 3
Millennial origin: 2

While Gen Z made the most Gen Alpha slang of the three, you may notice that a majority of these terms are not Gen Z. The whole thing is, when Gen Z uses a lot of this slang, it’s ironically, however Gen Alpha who copy other generations’ slang, they use it unironically.

Out of style? I’m no square. I’m still hip and with it. No need to freak out, man. It’s all groovy.

An app called “genlingo” would be awesome, just learning slang from different generations.
