Do you need to bulk add new proxyAddresses to user accounts in Active Directory? What if you need to modify existing proxyAddresses?

In this video, I will show you how to easily add or modify the proxyAddresses attribute by using the AD Pro Toolkit.

1. I recommend taking a backup of all users proxyAddresses. This can be done by using the export users tool. Make sure the proxyAddresses column is added and export the users to a csv file. This will be useful if you need to look back and see what changed.

2. To add a new proxyAddress click the update options and choose "Add new". This option will not modify existing addresses.

3. To update existing proxyAddresses click update options and choose "Update Existing". Use the proxyAddresses_update column in the csv template. The proxyAddresses column is the target address.

The proxyAddresses attribute in Active Directory is a multi-value property that can contain various known address entries. For example, it can contain SMTP addresses, X500 addresses, SIP addresses, and so on. To set a primary sending address prefix the mail address with an upper case SMTP.
