Been waiting for some vs 3700x @1440 numbers. No reason to upgrade. Thanks for saving me some money.

4.4Ghz 2700X? That's a really good sample. Not super realistic to expect that for most people.

I just upgraded from a 3600x to a 5800x3d. It arrives tomorrow. I was getting serious buyers remorse - always do - almost still on the fence about cancelling/returning, so I’m going on a video binge to justify my purchase, and these videos are making me feel somewhat better that it’s a chip I can use for 3 years at least.

AM5 is just too expensive rn as gaming isn’t my only hobby, so hopefully it’s a good upgrade for possibly even longer. I play a lot of games like Arma, Total War, Paradox Games mostly Heart of Iron, Bannerlord, Stalker GAMMA modpack, all which have a lot going on with NPC counts or are CPU focused (or the engines aren’t so friendly so rely on CPU a bit too much), so that thought is helping me deal with this crippling anxiety I get every time I upgrade.

I can pay for the chip in a year by taking food instead and skipping buying it at work, but I still have crippling guilt haha.

What I'm curious about for the 5800X3D specifically is how it affects games that are heavily single thread bound. Ark Survival Evolved comes to mind, particularly in heavily built up areas by players. The devs are incredibly incompetent and have staggered single thread loading for objects and dinos, and I noticed a pretty substantial improvement just going from a 3600 to a 5600X. There are plenty of other early era UE4 build games that also have this trend of leaning too heavily on single threads, but Ark is among the worst. Curious if an abundance of L3 cache is a band-aid fix or if the problem is too deeply rooted.

I would have preferred all stock results really (most won't be overclocking a ryzen CPU) but has giving me good results regardless (3700x vs 5800x3d, adding the 2700x was nice as well)

Went from a 3700x to a 5800x3d and feel like my price per upgrade was not worth the extra 10 fps..

I am one of those lucky fucks who bought a cheap 3700x like $250-$380~ CAD and then bought a 5800x for $200 CAD a few year's later just recently. So I definitely got my money's worth

I was just wondering how "real" those benchmarks could be ? Afterall I had R7 2700X for like 5 years and in GTA Online I had around 60-80 fps with GTX 1060 6 GB and same thing with RX 5700XT, got over 100 fps only when upgraded to R7 5800X which means that GTA Online is more CPU bound as before the upgrade I had the same fps on lowest and highest graphics settings. Also how did you even get 4.4 GHz with R7 2700X ? This CPU wont go above 4.15 GHz even with 1.55 V

Hi. Can you do a comparison on RPCS3 emulator between 5800/5900/5950/5800X3D ?
(a game like Metal Gear Solid 4 is a Ryzen killer actually, a 5950x cannot hold 60FPS constantly, I wish I could find some emulation comparison on YouTube but there is simply none...)

Thank You, as I promised, like for 2700X

With optimized PBO and -0.5v offset i'm pulling an average of 110w on my 3700x, 5000 cinebench r20 score.

good video! Not sure upgrading from my 3700x to the 5800x or 5800x3d is worth it for 1440p gaming... especially considering I have a 2080 OC and not a 3090 Ti

I'm still having great performance using my 2700X combined with RX6700 XT. Looking at the benchmarks I don't see a need to upgrade yet. Currently i'm using a 1440P monitor and margins will reduce even more comparing to 1080p.

with a 3080 would the % difference between them be similar

Most ppl see big number and see the need to upgrade, I see none of the games dip below 60 and hence for my 1080p 60hz monitor 2700x is fine. should get a new gpu when the gtx1660 croaks.

Ok nice, but which CPU pairs the best with a GT 1030 that has 2 GB VRAM?

so my pc with ryzen 7 2700x and 3070 shoud get 288 to 377 fps in valorant in 2k res with max but i only get 140 to 220 with all low settings seems legit

You need to test games at lower graphics so cpu does more work, Better results.
Higher setting means gpu is doing more work.

Bro hes playing on ultra settings causing a gpu limited scenario. this is not how you test a cpu.
