The WEIRD World of DreamWorks TV Shows

DreamWorks is no stranger to making TV shows based on their existing properties, but I was truly shocked at just how many of them there actually are. While the quality of these shows is never consistent, many of them left a good mark on my childhood and I think a look back at DreamWorks' extensive history in television is in order.

"The Penguins of Madagascar" series was responsible for the penguins becoming the icons they are today since it was the one that created the personality and traits that everyone recognizes on them.

Before that they all had more or less the same personality with the exception of Skipper who was the leader and practically the only one with any distinction.

I kinda love how legends of awesomeness actually tried to kinda keep continuity with the main series, like after the second movie came out, they would actually mention lord shen in the show, I just thought that was coool

I’m curious to hear your thoughts on All Hail King Julian. I still have no idea why they opted to give us King Julian lore in a time where the franchise wasn’t doing much, but I always found it to be entertaining (and completely batshit in the best possible way) and it gives me hope that the Madagascar IP doesn’t need to ride on the Penguins forever

Dreamworks' Dragons is so underrated, all the character development adds so much to films to the point where it would feel weird watching them without knowing what happened in the series

Homes, captain underpants, turbo, the crood, mr. Peabody and Sherman, trolls, puss and boots and etc are shows I used to watch a lot due to it being on Netflix. Back in like 2015-2019 or something.

The closest I will ever get to watching Megamind Rules is through watching Shaffrillas Production's 2 videos on it (3 including the one on the dumpster fire I refuse to call a "sequel") Honestly, the crab man's arc of going from yelling about the funny dehydration gun to not being as mad and not feigning it for content when the show at least tries a little in its second half to be something more than utter trash is probably done 10 times better than anything that show could offer me by itself.

Fun Fact: some of the background characters from Megamind rules are just re-skinned versions of the background characters in Boss Baby: back in business.
