Great to do videos about overlooked yet still significant people and their contributions that defined their time.

Thank you heather. These women certainly didn’t live the quiet life did they? Perhaps they were products of their time. We can’t know what that time was really like no matter how hard we try. 🙏🙏🙏👵🇦🇺

To be an intelligent woman in Tudor England would be a delicate dance. To be intelligent and ambitious would be a dangerous combination for anyone let alone a woman.
Politics, social standing, and wealth would be a guarantee that one could either do very well or lose one's head for any minor error of judgement. Not a restful life for a woman.

Excellent presentation! Anne Stanhope is probably my favourite person of the Tudor era, so I've really enjoyed it.🙂
And if you ever get the opportunity, could you also do a video on the soldier, spy, mercenary, diplomat, and possibly Henry VIII's bastard son Thomas Stukeley?
😅

Many thanks Heather for this podcast on Anne Stanhope. She is one of those individuals that contemporary sources are
really divided on. Reports of her being 'reclusive' during Edward V1 reign are cancelled out by John Hayward's description of her being 'a mannish rather devilish woman' - almost like a Tudor Lady Macbeth! All of which makes her a really interesting woman.
A second podcast on Anne would be terrific. - Elizabeth Cumming.

Could you please do a video presenting as much archival information as you can find about Robert Aske.? I’m familiar with the broad outlines of The 1536 Pilgrimage of Grace, as well as with Aske’s ignominious end. Yet as a commoner, even tho Aske led the *most* widespread and *serious* resistance to Henry VIII’s anti-Catholic policies and Cromwell’s self-interested dissolution of the lesser monssteries, it is difficult to find much information about him not directly linked either to the Pilgrimage or to his awful death. It seems that in the Tudor Period in which we specialise, commoners rarely are considered significant enough to show up by *name* in surviving public records…

Didn’t she have a son with Thomas Seymour, Edwards brother? And wasn’t she rattling Surrey on the side?
