I wish peace and prosperity for all the people of Vietnam, after all the suffering from all the wars they’ve endured, as an American, I would rather be allies than enemies.

Last year I went for 1 month to Vietnam…I was talking to a tiny young lady… I understood straight away why they can defeat any army…very proud and nacionalista

As a Vietnamese person, I have to say that if a war were to occur with Vietnam, I am not sure if Vietnam could win, but I am sure Vietnam would not be defeated.

Keeping old weapons is a clever strategy; in war, every bullet is count. Looking back at their history, in the 20th century, their weapons often lagged behind technologically compared to their enemies in the the early stage of the war . However, they consistently upgraded what they had and used them wisely. With assistance from allied countries, they have proven that they are a formidable opponent that should not be underestimated.

Nothing but respect for the good people of Vietnam, my Chilean father deeply admired both uncle Ho and Giáp as a military man himself and now being in Vietnam I can confirm that these people will never allow themselves to be taken by any power.

Talk about a tough little nation. I’m glad to hear that Vietnam and the US are building better relations.

Even if Vietnam didn't invest so much into the military, the trees speaking Vietnamese are a threat enough for invaders 😆. Jokes aside, Vietnam's military is a part of their culture, symbol of the fierce fight for the independence of their country. And it doesn't matter under what political ideology is independence achieved. Salute! 🫡

-Countries that always compare their strength with Vietnam: Indonesia, Thailand...
-Countries that understand Vietnam's strength well: USA, China, France, Mongol Empire, Khmer Rouge...

Vietnam does not have the capability to go on a full-blown offensive, but it sure as hell can make whoever invades feel the absolute weight of their decisions.

0:26 Many sources from both Western and Viet Nam estimated that the expenditure of VPA in 2022 was about 5.6-7.8 billion usd.Even your source(Lowy Institute estimated VPA expenditure was just around 6 billion). Is this just a mistake or this channel is actually having a problem with Vietnam and trying to disinformation to disfigure them?

Never underestimate the vietnamese military, However, compared to the modern army in the world, there might not be much, but to the actual battle, they're tough to beat.

In Vietnam, we have a theory named "chiến tranh nhân dân" mean in the war, every men, women, young, old are soldiers. Therefore, even though our military equipment may be old and outdated, we still feel it is insufficient to equip everyone. If there is an invasion in Vietnam, all kinds of weapons will be used, including bricks, stones, bamboo spikes, Molotov cocktails, bees, venomous snakes, compasses, rulers...etc. Looking at past wars in Vietnam or in Ukraine, you will see that no weapon is outdated or useless; it depends on how it is used. Therefore, nothing should be wasted, not even a stone.

I once watched the Vietnam Border Guards help putting out brush fire with bucket and every water hose they got since the nearest fire station is covering metropolitan areas and the fires were near the border. When needed, they could be sent out to help (including fires, flood, ...). Even in metropolitan areas, some does have a Search and Rescue fire truck.

Vietnam's defense budget increased, possibly due to costs for self-research and establishment of research and development projects for self-production of weapons.
