In this video we will begin learning SQL Basics. To get started writing SQL, we need to first set up a server and a database. The server we will be using for these tutorials is Postgres. We'll walk through how to download, install, and setup PostgreSQL. Then we will create our first database so that we can begin writing SQL code. Let's get started.

Currently taking a spatial database grad course. I noticed the PgAdmin icon in your dock from one of your git tutorials. Really happy to see you covering PostGRES!

THANK YOU SO MUCH. I am new to databasing and pretty new to command line programs in general, and so most of the advice on the internet is totally unhelpful, assuming way more knowledge than I have at the moment. But this is exactly what I needed.

Since PSequel is limited to MacOSx, I've setup DataGrip from JetBrains on my Windows.

For people that do not know how to get a hold of paid products from JetBrains, you can go to education.github.com, by signing up for a student account, which grants you access to many paid resources and tools such as Heroku, Digital Ocean, Microsoft Azure, Git Kraken, as well as a JetBrain's student account. The JetBrain's offer grants you access to many of their software for 1 year.

It is an annual renewal after that, I think. Not sure on that part.

Hope it helped!
