3 roller tests usually get AWD computers thinking too much which makes them fail the test. Locked Front/Rear differential is the only way to get that test smoothly passed.

As a separate point, the older model looks like the ride quality would be more comfortable as it has smaller alloys. I really dont like the way manufacturers put big alloys on every car seemingly these days, with low profiles or run flats or whatever, the ride is far too harsh. All you get is people saying that bigger wheels make the car look better. For what ? A car meet or something in Clacton on sea ? Id take bigger tyres any day. Worst SUV I have ever driven was a top spec Range Rover with over sized alloys. The ride quality was harder then a Golf R. Totally f..king pointless. Give me the old school 4x4 comfort any day instead of style over substance bullshit SUV crap.

It's crazy how none of the old school 4x4 trucks with open diffs would have passed any of these tests.

Why are you pushing the mk3 harder? Not a fair test in my books

The newer one looks like a corrective shoe in comparison

Is there any differencies inbetween generations, taking in mind mechanical/ electronic control aspects? All we can see that newer copes a litlle better. But tyre profile is different. Engine/ max torque?
