I imagined this so differently. First of all the wands connecting is very very very rare. Harrys and Voldemorts wands can do it only because their cores are from the same bird. That's the condition, that the two wands cores come from the same animal. It bothers me that every single duel in movie 5 and onwards the wands do connect :/
