Thank you for sharing this! I think I have a decent candidate phone for this project. I would think that an additional lens could be added to the phone holder if more zoom was needed.

Right on dude. I was just about to order one of those crappy microscopes from amazon to try again at modding my Xbox because my first time trying was a fail. I just couldn't see the small points on the board. I should have better success now... hopefully ;-) We'll see. There is a version for Linux which makes me happy too. And yes open camera works way better.

Darn! I just bought an expensive microscope. This will work fine on the cheap. There are also thermal camera phones which will work for basic electronics repair. The distance is enough for soldering work. I wished I saw your video earlier.

You can add hardware add-ons to improve zoom power.

You could just use phone and have a better mount?.
