Polestar 4 Dual Motor – New Zealand Review

New Zealand finally has the Polestar 4 and its spec sheet is almost as long as the car itself. But despite Polestar's design team adding every gadget imaginable, they've done something unusual: deleting the rear window to maximise space. Only time will tell if this becomes a new trend that other car makers will follow, but as Gav found out, it doesn't seem to hinder the driving experience.

Speaking of driving experience, the Dual Motor version of the Polestar 4 (with the Performance Pack) has a quality of ride which would impress Rolls Royce and motor power that takes it to 100 km/h in just 3.8 seconds. But all that comes at a fairly hefty price...

Thanks for showing the car in the night - both inside and outside, this is rarely shown on car reviews.

Looks great but $120k- $130k is too much. Good review Gavin.

I can never afford one, but I'm excited to see vehicle-to-load. I am hoping to see this technology in all electric cars

Never apologise about a joke. Don’t look back was great!

You could say that after you’ve made a joke you cant go back.

Would Ecotricity come to Australia?! They would definitely have one customer. 😉

Nice to see reviews. Sad to see no 51c/kw buy back because I am 100m away from the cut off area in Lincoln

Smashed it with the jokes in this one Gav. Really funny 😂. Thanks so much for the review.

Polestar has some of the best looking EVs on the market - great design. The rear view camera in the Polestar 4 is better than the rear view in my Tesla Model Y.

I'm not sure I believe your apology for that joke 😂

Nice review, always interesting to see what money can buy vs what I can afford.

How did you find the highway road noise with the single vs dual motor? Also is the footrest an issue in the right hand side version of this car the same way it is with the left hand drive edition?

You should have someone that is far sighted (needs reading glasses) try the rear view display.
I had one in a previous car and loved it because there is no head bobbing required as you don’t have to look around C pillars, etc. But your eyes have to shift focus when switching from distance vision through the window screen, to near vision for the rear view display.

Very cool review. I'm really not convince about the none rear window situation, I think that might be too drastic.
Also they went crazy regarding the price.
The Polestar 2 was well priced and, even if these are 2 different cars, I don't see how this one can justify more than double the price.

I'll watch the whole video this evening, but I just clicked, did a double take and thought - did I click Gav's BYD Seal video, nope, that's a Polestar 4... double take ftw

Drives like a Roller eh, well have to ask Tom Gan(Ludicrous Feed) as he's actually taken a Spectre out and done a review of it so he could answer that for you. :) What tyres did they put on the NZ spec hope they are EV specific and even better if they are the Hankook iON EVO ones. Always love your reviews Gav!

So they moved the rear window where it served a purpose to make a roof that just lets in excessive light and heat.

Hmm no rear window and rear privacy glass….. why do I need a rear cargo cover any more ?

Looks great, range seems great but really needs a full test, like family in car to be more realistic.
Only other concern, and only after a doco out of Aussie. Kia and Tesla do both audio and video recording without you actually knowing . Plus gained into us then sold to third parties for marketing, this to me is very wrong.
Apparently it is hidden in terms condition of sale. Can be turned off but it is buried in menu .

Hmmm $120+K? Seems very expensive for a Model Y competitor. Great review as always Gav.
