Why is it an employer's business why a person takes time off from work? It is literally none of their business what they should be looking at is our skills and experience and our education to see if we qualify for the position why we stopped working is neither here nor there.

I was laid off the beginning of the COVID lockdown in 2020 and late that year survived a brain aneurysm and hemorrage, relocated to the West Coast and am now recovered and ready to rock my next position!

I agree with you. Everyone should have gaps in their career. I feel it is impossible not to. After my father passed away, I travelled for a year. I feel this experience was very very valuable, meaningful and it was absolutely necessary. I actually stopped again working 10 years later to work on a children book which was released in 2021. And I don't regret a thing. Life doesn't just happen at work. Thank you for your super useful channel! ❤

I recently had someone ask me about a 6 month gap, 12 years ago! I was so caught off-guard. I barely remembered having that gap.

I was low balled in my salary by a recruiter because I was unemployed! It wasn't my fault that I was unemployed. I was laid off due to a budget cut.

I was freed from an abusive relationship that escalated during the shutdown. The problem is what that does to you mentally, I've taken the time to rebuild and recover.

Even if you have a valid situation in regard to your job gap, most companies now in days they will not provide you with a chance because is more to select that's the reality. "Discrimination is more than before" and more when you are applying for high pay jobs.

I was unwell in 2019. Then, in 2020, the pandemic hit. So I decided to put everything into getting a degree the last few years. Now I am ready for a new career!

My gap in work/resume is due to my age. I am low 60's in age but can't seem to get hired for positions in management that I know I am very qualified for. In fact, I had 3 online interviews for one company and they were so excited to see me in person, that the hiring manager went out of his way to travel from Dallas to IL for our interview. When we met, his impression was not as enthusiastic as he was on the phone. Made me feel terrible that my age did seem to matter. Sadly I never heard back from them other than the dreaded email stating we are going with a different candidate (I was one of two). But I did see the other candidate as I was walking out and he looked late 40's, early 50's. Very sad indeed as I was hoping to work another 10 years. I have been out of work for 9 months, been on several qualifying management roles and nothing.

I have been a temp most of my life. I have always been behind the curve and got an Associate Degree in Supply Chain Mgt. later in life. My last major assignment of 12 months ended in May of 2020 at the height of the pandemic and I got covid a couple weeks later. That scared me silly and I didn't work for 1 year after that because I really didn't have to and I was terrified. I still can't smell anything 2 years later, but I am still at temp. It seems that most companies want to higher a bachelor's Degree or better and I have an extensive history of being a temp. I am not sure that even your superpowers can help, but you were indirectly responsible for helping me land my current position temporary as it may be. I am in a long-term contract of 12 months, but it Will end in the spring of 2023. Can you help?

I decompressed then got hired... but i was extremely overwhelmed. The seasoned nurses were calling off of working on the hall that they expected me as a new nurse to take on. So I quit. My blood felt like it was upto my ears and i was gonna pop my top. Im ok now but im scared to get back in the work force because of this gap

I'm dealing with a multi-year gap and recent experience that is Part-Time and a Seasonal role and a stretch to my field. I've spent a lot of time on upskilling but how do I best explain this have 28 yr's in tech and looking to land. How do I craft a positive story.
