COMPILATION: Hole Stories and Underground Mysteries

A construction worker discovers a massive tunnel system while breaking ground for a new building. Meanwhile, deep in the Nevada desert, scientists detect unusual seismic activity that doesn't match any known geological patterns. These events might seem unconnected, but they're part of humanity's complex relationship with what lies beneath.

Throughout history, people have built elaborate underground networks - from ancient catacombs to modern military bunkers. Even now, mysterious tunnels are being discovered under cities worldwide, their purposes unknown. Some say they're remnants of lost civilizations. Others claim they're proof of secret government projects.

Scientists continue mapping the vast caverns and passages honeycombing Earth's crust, finding new mysteries with each expedition. As we dig deeper into our planet's hidden spaces, we uncover evidence that challenges our understanding of human history. What secrets still wait to be discovered in the darkness below?

I had a stroke a little over a year ago. One of my therapist told me about the WhyFiles AJ and Hecklefish has helped me through a few hard times I loved it when he started doing compilations. Thanks a lot

The Mel's Hole episode was the first WhyFiles I stumbled upon in 2022. AJ spoke in an update, perhaps a few months later, about how his channel was growing exponentially after he released his first short (as I recall). I actually cried during that update because I was so happy for him and the whole team. Now there are over 4.43 Million subscribers! I'm just so happy for you all. You've worked so hard, probably around the clock much of the time, and as a small business owner for decades, I'm sure it has taken its toll. Please take time for self-care. Don't worry about your weight in the old or new videos AJ. None of us walk in your shoes. You do you and stay well. WE all LOVE YOU! ❤❤❤

Thank you for your channel, I separated from my wife a few years ago and had to relocate 3 hours away, I travel back every week to see my kids, I’ve suffered a lot with my mental health and I am broken when I leave my kids each time, I always put your shows on the keep me company on the long sad drives, it keeps me grounded and makes me happy again . Thank u

To everyone spending New Year’s alone, know this: you’re stronger than you realize, and brighter days are ahead. Each new year is a chance to rebuild, to hope, and to find the connections that remind us we’re never truly alone. To AJ and Hecklefish, thank you for being a constant light in the dark, bringing laughter, curiosity, and wisdom when it was needed most. Your hard work has touched more lives than you’ll ever know. And to The Why Files family, Happy New Year! Here’s to growth, discovery, and a brighter 2025 filled with mystery and inspiration. Let’s step into this new chapter together, one story at a time.

I'll be honest AJ, (odd as you may find it) your channel is exactly what I needed in my life. I wish I was "one of those 50" original viewers, but I believe things are put in our paths WHEN they're meant to. There are no accidents, no coincidence... Closing 2024, I'm thankful for you and for your years of hard work, among many other things. God bless you in 2025 my friend.

A couple of decades back, 7 years was a normal period of time to build a successful business. If you built this channel in 3 years, this is a great success.

I started watching you in 2021 or 2022 and you were not a big channel at all. I remember thinking that I found something special that nobody else really understood. Part of your charm was that you only had a small following and you spoke to people who believed in more than their job and their mortgage. You have come a very long way and it wasn't overnight. Thanks for all the content, we appreciate all that you guys do for us.

I watched the why files on the discovery channel, and when I found it here on you tube I literally "fan girled" like I teenage girl. I'm 46 and my grown kids thought that menopause done made me crazy running through the house screaming and crying and laughing. I was really happy that day....lol anyways. Sending love to all. And thank you so much for everything everyone does to keep us all entertained, educated and informed.

I remember watching the Mel's hole episode. Back then we were all commenting how underrated this channel was. I was so befuddled why you weren't more popular. Then you just exploded exponentially. Well done and well deserved to everyone involved in the channel. And thank goodness you stuck with it!!!

FYI- I was one of the first 3000 subscribers and most of the comments was us all asking how in the hell did this channel only have a few thousand subscribers? Well it may have taken some time, but it is wonderful that the work, research and approach finally paid off- brings a little hope that over all we are not just a bunch of viewing lemmings - and a quality production does get recognition- thanx guys

In 1997 I was working my way through through college as a bartender. Art be kept me company every night. At 51 years old, my heart breaks hearing is voice on your show. I miss him terribly. The good news is you are on your way to being my replacement for Art.

The fun "tell the myth" portion of the story is a blast to listen to. The overall format of the channel is great. Around 1 hour 46 min you expressed concern about taking creative license - Go for it. The fact that you then move on to confirm or debunk what you can gives you all the license you need to tell the fun, gripping story.

My father in law was on operation high jump with Admiral Byrds expedition, he was on the ice cutter Northwind in 1946 to Antartica. They indeed witnessed USOs coming in and out of the water. Men in black boarded the ship and they had to sign non discloser paperwork. They also brought the first penguins back to America. We have pictures of him holding penguins on the ship. Sadly he passed about 7 years ago from Alzheimer's. He circumnavigated the globe 7 times and sailed through the Bermuda Triangle and witnessed strange anomalies. He was part of the crew that went to South America in search of a possible Hitler escape. He joined the Coast Guard at a young age forging his guardians signature to gain entry. He was recruited by Mensa as well. He was an Amazing artist and craft beautiful sculptures with wood. His life sounds as though it could be a book. It was his life. Devastated my wife when she lost him. Great man, the least I can do is pay tribute and tell his stories.

I was too young to listen to Coast 2 Coast in it's golden days. But you're my modern Art Bell, AJ, and I thank you for the hours of entertainment.
