What Can $10 Get in ECUADOR? (my 193rd country!)

I HAVE FINALLY MADE IT TO MY 193rd COUNTRY -- ECUADOR!! Now I only have 4 countries left until I have visited every country in the world!

I am so freaking excited to be spending the next 12 days traveling around Ecuador with a camera crew, while we shoot for my upcoming documentary about visiting every country (which is now a docuseries, with each of my final 6 countries being one full episode!)

We started our Ecuadorian adventure in the underrated capital city of Quito, and then we got off into the countryside in one of the most stunning towns called Baños. I was so lucky to meet the coolest local friends, Micaela, Esteban and Gustavo through Instagram, who have been kind enough to introduce me to their culture. There will be many more adventures to come across Ecuador!

Ecuador is beautiful and under-rated. Colombians love to travel to Ecuador, especially Salinas. Otavalo is also cool, very traditional.

Maté is actually indigenous to South America, particularly Argentina, Uruguay, Brazil, Paraguay as you said. When Arab immigrants came to South America they started drinking maté too, and when they returned to their countries they brought it with them. Maté comes from many indigenous tribes across South America.

Maté didn't come from the middle east. Actually it comes from South America, Lebanese and Syrian immigrants in Latin America brought it back to the middle east where it is found today even in refugee camps in Irak.
