I was in high school when the Vibrations recorded Sloopy in 1964. It was quirky, but really didn’t leave much of an impression. When the McCoys followed it up shortly afterward, I thought it was way better, but the version I remember is this one, which I heard in my 20’s.

I had never heard there was a short film version with a dancer until today. I was just looking for songs from my youth (😢) when I clicked on this.

I grew up in Southern California and Lisa epitomized the “California girl”. Just, wow!

I’ve never seen a professional dancer with moves as smooth as Lisa’s. Exotic and sexy, but not vulgar. That’s hard to pull off, but Sloopy Girl, you did it in spades.
