Amsteel Continuous Loop

Instructions on making a continuous loop (part of a hammock suspension) out of 7/64 Amsteel Blue. In this I make an 8" finished loop, which is a perfect size for gathering the end of your hammock. I show you the details of splicing this rope, and explain how you can make longer loops or longer buries if you'd like. Thanks for watching!

Amazing instructions- thanks so much! Making hammocks for Christmas gifts and have a bunch of continuous loops to make and I'm a total beginner. Just made my first loop after watching this.

Seriously appreciate this video. Best tutorial I've watched, easy to follow and I just upgraded two hammocks to 8" continuous loops. Thank you!

Thanks for the great video! I used a carpet repair needle instead of a fid or wire for a fish, worked great!

Excellent video. I think it is worth noting that the splice is not locked under tension the way a locked brummel is locked. the splice holds because of the compression of the single braid on itself in the bury and the resulting friction. Under tension this is good, but when the loop is not under tension the splice can work loose, so it is important to put a stitch through both lines at the beginning of the bury (meeting point) so it does not work loose.

Very very slick Ian. You explain and demo it so very well that I think I could actually do this. Great job!

I can't even describe how awesome this video is!!  Clear, detailed instructions with a great angle on the camera. I don't think it could be shown any better.  You make it look easy enough for me to try.  I just got some Amsteel and I'm itching to try this!!

Thanks!!

Well done, Ian. My recent interest in soft shackles (and the making of them!) brought me to your video. I see a winter of knot-making ahead of me. Thanks! rob bartleman
