I was just getting my hammock together today, in preparation for my AT hike in a month, and decided that I didn't really need the carabiner (bulky, but light) to connect my whoopie to my hammocks' continuous loop. I just found the treasure trove of your videos this evening and when I saw this one, I realized that the one weakness of my larks head connection could be eliminated by this great tip. Thanks a bunch!

While I was testing gear out yesterday I thought what if I lost my shakle, when I remember your video. Knowledge helps when you're in the woods.
To be honest i was a little skeptical, it looked like it shouldn't hold, but it did and held great. Nice trick to know !

I have watched a few of your videos. All you do is make sense. This no hardware thing is awesome, and stronger. The only drawback is what system to try next. Your probably good at math too. Way to think out of the box!

So really there's no need to splice a soft link with a special knot, just splice continuous loops and use them to make connections when and where you need them. Really cool, TFS!

Yes indeed....that'll work. I scratched my head trying to figure out how to tie two loops togeather. I made a heck of a knot thing-a-majig I can't get loose. Thank you !!!

I have been doing the same thing but with a simple half hitch as the stopper

Do you know if this knot has a name? I'd like to find out where the failure happens and what percentage of the original line it fails at. I'm pretty sure the Chinese Button Knot with buried tails maintains the full line strength, the weakest point is the single strand of line used.

I'd love to know what to search to try and find some destructive testing of this knot or ask someone to test it with load measurements.

I very much enjoy your informative videos. Where can the 1” grid board/pad be purchased?

Hey ! Thanks for this new trick ! Do you know if it works well as a water break ? You present it as a sort of back-up use, but it could be used as a permanent easy no hardware link...

I very much enjoy your very informative videos, one question though, where can I buy the 1” grid board/pad that you use?

I was just gonna ask you if this was possible, I am stuff praying for my daughters medical bills and I’m a single dad so money’s been tight and I’ve wanted to soft link my Whoopie slings and this is currently working! In in it now and will be every night! Do you believe this will hold 200lbs for 6-10 hours a day?
