This is the first review I have seen that realistically compares the xt4 with a full frame camera. Great job and very useful information.

here are the reason i want to pick the XT4 over the A7III even tho it was my first choice

One of the most important aspect for me at least is the feel of the camera, other than the "vintage look" when i went to my store to see how both felt i litterally fell in love with the XT4 handling/ergonomics (call it the way you want) it is obviously totally subjective so gotta get your hands on both before you decide to go for one or the other

Then as you explained in this video the A7III is litterally the king of auto focus at this price point and there is a wider variety of lens which can be a good or a bad thing really quickly
for example being obsessed with the latest tech or the latest lenses or whatever, with a reduced choice if you pick the right lenses for the job you cannot over think it

For my lens selection i'll start with the 23 and the 35mm f/2 (for both) maybe the 16-80 (24-120) f4 that could be a good all in one lense.
And if i ever need a wider lens than that then i'll see
i'll also be using my 750D, wich will allow me to use my 35mm for portrait while i use an other lense on the 750D like my old 70-200 f4 or maybe a new lense who knows

i want to reduce what i carry as much as possible and IF possible i'd like to be able to shoot most of my work with 1/2 lenses.
and i won't even talk about long terms economy when you only buy 2 or 4 lenses max compared to the prices of most glass you can find for the E-mount.

After that to be even more annoying, the flipping screen is something i love on my 750D so i love the fact that you have it on the XT4, the 2 SD that are the same is also a good point for the XT4

Here is what i plan on shooting most of the time: Street photography, Weddings, Automotive, portraits, maybe a little bit of video?, landscape.

in terms of setting i'll mostly be using the single point focus unless i do portraits (unless eye auto focus doesnt handle well even in a simple portrait session)
panning shot same stuff, single point + Continuous auto focus and that's it you good to go

It's actually the only review i found that was truly realistic and wasnt biased so huge kudo to you, even to this day this video is still helpfull
Btw if i wrote all that monologue it's also to put "on paper" the reason of why i'm going with fuji cause it is still quite a lot of money for someone like me but if i want to get started with professional work that's the direction i'll follow :D

tbh i'm sure the a7III would be a better option when it come to professional work but at the end of the day, the menus, the ergonomics and many other little details make me feel like i'm gonna regret it if i go to sony

there is a few others but i think the main part is here :D

if you are still reading, thanks first of all and i hope you'll have an amazing day and that you'll be able to go out and shoot, cause at the end that's what truly matters right :D have fun guys and feel free to share what you think :D

Very fair, well balanced, and thorough comparison. I especially like that you distinguish between personal preference and objective performance.

I was deciding between Sony A7iii and Fuji XT4 and went with Fuji due to the better design and smaller kit size. I am attracted to the Sony lens ecosystem, and am waiting for the A7iv to get into it. Excellent video.

I have a Sony A7 System (A7rii & A7iii) and a Fuji System (GFX 50S medium format). Both are highly capable systems and you can’t go wrong with either. On paper (and in your mind), the Sony usually pulls ahead and is a great all-purpose tool. The Fuji (X and GFX) systems are incredibly capable and subjectively much more enjoyable to use due to the manual dedicated buttons and dials — in particular, if you are a street shooter, you can quickly change shutter/aperture/ISO settings *before* you even turn on the camera. I picked the Sony because I have a large number of Leica lenses that I adore and after several successful projects/books/exhibitions, I’m now superstitiously attached to. If it wasn’t for that, and if I was starting over again, I would pick the Fuji X system. When I recommend cameras to friends, I usually recommend the Fuji X system.

If Sigma and Tamron start adapting lenses for Fuji then we'll have a real battle. I've been eyeing the A7iii for a long time but that damn Fuji is just so sexy!

The fact that Fuji can even hold its own against one of the best FF sensors ever created says a lot. Good review.

Amazing review, made my life really easy in choosing X-T4 over A7III. So the key takeaway is that if you are looking for a camera to shoot videos primarily like myself then XT-4 is for you. I was looking for a camera to shoot short documentaries and short films. The fact that X-T4 gives you 4K60p, FHD 120p & 240p and 10 bit video in such a small package at this price is a deal of the century and on top of all that X-T4 gives you very nominal crop factor which is very much acceptable and can be easily managed while framing a shot. For video shooters X-T4 is s a much better choice as a B-camera while main camera being a low light beast like A7Sii aur BMPCC 4K, Canon 5D MkIV, C100 MkII etc. There is a reason that DP review updated its hybrid camera buying guide placing X-T4 at no 1 and A7III at 2nd. Given the video specs of X-T4 it is clearly targeting enthusiast video shooters. Also in his review Hugh Brownstone calls the Fujifilm X-T4 the best balanced and least compromised camera on the market! So if you are looking for a mirrorless for shooting videos then close your eyes and go for X-T4. Though not as vast as Sony's glass collection, there are enough Fuji X mount glass for you at decent pricing. I bought my X-T4 with 16-80 f4 kit lens on 23rd July and have been using it daily, quality is amazing. Will post a short doc on my channel entirely shot on this camera by end of September.

Great video. Personally, I sold my Sony A7iii, and bought the Fuji x-t3, now I own the Fuji X-t4. I am super happy making the switch. Basically I feel the Fujis are more 'fun' to shoot with, and find my self using the Fuji a lot more than with my previous Sonys. And I guess that's why we own cameras.

The first time I watched this I was in the Fujifilm camp. The 3rd or 4th time I watched I realized the A7iii is just so damn good.

makes me want a a7III so bad. But I want that 4k60 and 10 bit in video.

Now this is how you do a comparison/review!

thank you, very good comparison!
I would be very interested in a detailed image quality comparison between APS-C and Full Frame (Tamron 28-75 vs Fuji 16-80 or 18-55) to see how much is the difference there.
I recently moved to Fuji and every day I like the system a bit more. The menu is much better than many people say in my opinion (coming from Nikon).
Would you recommend the 16-80 lens for allround landscape photography? (16-55 is too heavy for me)

they both seem equally good...fullframe depth of field with better auto focus or 10bit 4k60 with APS-C fully articulated screen.

I’m Fuji (X-T20) user, I really love Fuji with friendly users settings. But, Sony A7 iii is fckn awesome. This video really made me confuse, should I upgrade to X-T4 or try a new one Sony A7 iii.
